What felt like a million questions flashed through his mind as Starscream spoke. A human reaction, to leak from your eyes? War? What war? Question upon question churning around, with no answers to be found. Yet never once did he feel any anger toward his bondmate for any of the news he was given. How could he? Starscream had done nothing wrong.
And then the last bit finally seemed to register. Over a billion standard years. A billion. It was... it was too much to fathom. It had seemed like mere moments ago. The chill from that wind was still upon him, the curiosity of the planet itself still coursing through his... his what? Not circuits, not any longer.
"I remember the wind," he finally spoke, his voice starting to return to some semblance of normalcy despite the shock. "I... crashed, upon the frozen ground." He hesitated, confusing shining in his blue eyes.
"And then I was here."
That was it, really. It made no sense, there was nothing logical or scientific about it, yet it was the truth.
One of his hands moved to cover the one Starscream had against his face. His digits were beginning to almost burn as the sun overhead beamed down upon him, yet he ignored the pain that was much too strong for his liking and focused on the man in front of him. He could sense the other's pain. His guilt. Suddenly, all that mattered was making it stop. He couldn't bear the thought of Starscream feeling such remorse when it wasn't his fault.
"You had no choice," Skyfire heard himself say and realized that he meant it, even if he hadn't meant to actually say the words. "You remained fully functional. That is all that matters."
