Ahh, here it was. For a second, he had actually started to fool himself into thinking he might get let off easy here, but he knew now that was not to be the case. But if he truly wanted to start answering for his betrayal of the X-Men, he supposed now was probably the time to start.
"It...it started about a year ago. You weren't around, Liz'beth. You didn't see how bad it was getting. And, after what Apocalypse did to me...look, I thought I was doing de right t'ing. I know what Sinister is. No one knows better den me. But I made a mistake. I thought he might be right dis time, and den I sat back and watched as our friends fell one by one. And yea, I helped him do some of it. But when dey got Rogue, I knew I had to stop it. But before I could, I was here."
He finally turned back to her. He knew he was probably beyond the point of any return, so it couldn't hurt to look her in the eyes now.
"If I had told you, we wouldn't be standing here now. I didn't mean to hurt you. I never meant to hurt anyone. But den again, it wouldn't be de first time I let you all down, huh?" His mind traveled back to a few years ago, when the revelation of his first dealings with The Marauders had gotten him kicked off of the X-Men.
