As he walked the city streets, on his way back to the apartment, he was already in a mood. He hadn't been home in days, and although he knew Elisabeth would probably not question him about it (after years of living with him at the mansion, she had to be used to his tendency to go off by himself for long periods), he still felt bad about avoiding her, and keeping yet another secret.
He wasn't even completely sure why he had decided not tell her about his encounters with Rouge. Or at least most of it - he knew for sure that he would did not want to share the information he had learned from Rogue, that they were considered fictional characters in another universe. He still wasn't sure he believed that himself, so there was no reason to burden Elisabeth with it, too.
But the rest of it? There was no good reason not to tell her that Rogue (or at least a version of her) was here in the city, was there? He considered this as he walked, and came to the realization that he was afraid to tell Elisabeth all about it. Not afraid of her knowing about Rogue, but afraid of what she might discover about him.
So far, he had done a decent job keeping the fact that he had betrayed the X-Men from Elisabeth, and he wanted to keep it that way. But if he told her about this young Rogue he had found, and how he felt obligated to watch over her because of what he had done to the Rogue they both knew, well...even if he left out that detail, he assumed his thoughts would be screaming out so loud in his head that it would be impossible for Elisabeth not to pick them up, even if he did believe her promise not to peek into his mind without permission.
And so, he arrived at the door to the apartment, he decided he would keep it all to himself for a little while longer. He would eventually tell Elisabeth about Rouge, but only when he felt the time was right (and had come up with a good way to approach the subject). For now, he would simply walk in, say "hi" (if necessary), and go straight to his room for some much needed rest.
As it turned out, this would apparently not be so easy. As he opened the door, he immediately heard the music, and walked in to an odd sight. Elisabeth was dancing about, as two young boys he didn't recognize played some sort of song (not exactly Remy's kind of music, either). He knew Elisabeth had a tendency to entertain a lot of company, and he was even used to her bringing younger people over, but at the moment the whole situation seemed mildly annoying to him - which might not have been fair, but Remy wasn't exactly thinking like that right now.
He waited for any of the three to notice his arrival, but when it became obvious they were oblivious to his presence he loudly cleared his throat.
"Looks like we got a party here, and ole Remy done been left off de guest list, huh?" He tried to phrase it as jokingly-sounding as possible, but he sure his frustration probably came through a little.
