"Yeah, I walked. I don't even know if I own a car. If I do, I hope it's a nice one." He allowed a small grin to cross his face, in case she didn't realize he was trying to lighten the mood a little. But the truth was, the joke actually was just as forced as it probably sounded to her. He wasn't really in a joking mood. He thought having no memories at all was bad, but this...
In just a few short minutes, he had gained all sorts of new things to wrap his head around...and none of them were good. Whoever he was before he had lost his memories, he had obviously done something awful. Why else would this girl be so scared of him? He figured it must have something to do with this power of his that he supposedly had, and that didn't exactly make him comfortable either. But then, she had just said that she was special, too. What was going on here?
Not knowing what else to do, he followed her as she started grabbing her things. "Look, whatever is going on, I just want to say...thanks. I don't know how I feel about having to hide - jeez, I don't know how I feel about anything. But if you really think it's for the best, then I'll trust you. I mean, you're pretty much the only person I know right now."
This was a lie, of course, but he still felt like now might not be the time to tell her about Narcissa. All in good time, perhaps. For now, he would go with this Claire, and see if maybe she could help him find the answers he sought. As he stood behind her, watching her collect her belongs, he reached into his pocket and once again felt the drawing there. Seeing her now, up close and personal, the drawing took on a new level. She was cute, that much was for sure. Was the drawing something that had already happened? Had they been an item once? If that was the case, he really wished he could remember.
He shook the thought from his head, not wanting to start acting goofy around her. Not when it looked like she was starting to somewhat trust him.
