Fixing watches? It didn't really ring a bell, and yet when she said it...it sounded right, somehow. He visualized himself, sitting at a table, bent over a watch in pieces, working at putting it back together. It seemed so...peaceful.
As for her next comments, he again found himself at a loss. When he had suddenly come to at Narcissa's place, he hadn't even thought to ask her simple questions like where he lived - mostly because he had been so confused about everything that was happening at the time. But wait...Narcissa! Claire had asked if he had any friends. Did Narcissa count? He began to say something about her, but then stopped. There was no way to know if Claire and Narcissa had ever met, or knew much about each other, but given how strong Claire's reaction had been to seeing him, he figured it best not to risk anything by mentioning someone else who - for all he knew - Claire was also apprehensive about.
"No, I don't remember anything before yesterday. I've been trying, but it's all gone. I just knew I needed to find you, and so..."
He stopped. He couldn't tell her how he had known to find her here, not without giving away the info about Narcissa.
"I was walking around outside, and I saw you from a distance, coming into this building. I promise, I never meant to scare you. I just had to come talk to you, to try to figure this all out. But, I think I'm just getting even more confused. I mean, why were you so scared? And you...floating? I don't understand. Did I...did I do that somehow?"
