What: Kira performs and some friends come to support her.
Where: A jazz club.
When: Around 10pm Friday night.
Rating/Warnings: TBD. I doubt Kira and Sam are going to get into it this night, though.
Status: In progress.
Note: Please read this first.
Kira was standing in the small backstage area of the club, giving herself a last minute inspection of her appearance. The dress was new; strapless and black, pale golden ribbon just above her waist and jagged-hemmed layers of the skirt flowing just past her knees. Her hair was just slightly curled at the ends and clipped up on one side in a typical 50's style and a darker, more vivid berry gloss replaced the usual muted rose. Once she was sure everything looked as it should, she made her way to one of the wings, waiting for her turn.
Honestly, she didn't expect that many of her invited guests to show. She knew they cared and that they wanted to support her, but this place was chaotic. Her new sort-of-boyfriend Jack probably wouldn't be here since it hurt for him to move, plus there was a smartass vampire named Angelus that Faith was no doubt hunting down and Sam kept talking about Bloody Mary. She would be happy if only one of them showed up, but she wouldn't be disappointed if they didn't. Not much, anyway.
When they called her name, she walked out, trying to be graceful in the heals she wasn't used to. It wasn't so hard, but it seemed that way because she didn't have her guitar with her onstage, which made her feel a little naked. She wasn't used to this, not to singing without playing or to this type of music. She was putting on a brave face, though. She was a performer, after all. As she started singing to a slightly slower Fever, she tried to keep it true to the late Peggy Lee, but add a little of her own attitude into her voice. She just hoped the woman wasn't rolling over in her grave.
Never know how much I love you
Never know how much I care
When you put your arms around me
I get a fever that's so hard to bear
You give me fever
When you kiss me
Fever when you hold me tight
Fever, in the morning
Fever all through the night
