The only time Clark was late was usually when he was supposed to be reporting on a story. Of course, back in Metropolis, he usually was the story so it was more than difficult for him to play reporter and hero at the same time. Perry constantly made a fuss over his lack of appearances whenever Superman was around. But he was sure that the old man didn't really mind it so much, as Lois was usually the first one on the case anyway. The thought of the determined reporter brought a small sort of smile onto Superman's face as he flew above the city and off toward the park. He missed her. He really missed her. But unless she showed up here suddenly, he knew that he wouldn't be seeing her for a long while. Not until we get the mess here sorted out, he thought to himself.
As soon as he reached the small patch of trees and grass that suddenly jumped out from the mass of buildings and street, Superman carefully descended toward the ground and landed as gently as possible onto the earth below him. He remembered the conversation that he'd had with the younger version himself about landing without damaging the ground. It took practice. Fortunately, he had more than enough of it. Arms folding across the symbol over his chest, he stood and patiently waited for Terry to make his appearance. Little did he know, if he had only used his x-ray vision he would have realized that Terry was already there.
