Who: Clark Kent and [open to all] What: New journalism job in the city? Check. Making an idiot out of himself? In progress. When: Late afternoon. Where: Midtown. Rating: TBD. Status: In progress.
The job wasn't necessarily something that Clark was required to obtain. But if he was going to be able to pay the rent out for the temporary hotel room that he had bought out within the city, then he was going to need some cash. And since he didn't seem to exist in this place aside from within the depths of a simple comic book, then all of his bank accounts had vanished entirely. Which meant that Clark Kent was indeed short on cash. Working? Kind of helped solve that problem. Besides, being in a newspaper environment was a pretty decent place for someone who wanted to keep tabs on the city. He might have had super hearing, but he couldn't get to every place at once. Having a constant source helped.
Besides, Clark thought as he started through the crosswalk with the massive crowd at every side, if Lois shows up, that'll be the first place she'd go. The Daily Press. Not so far off from the Daily Planet, is it? With that thought in mind, Clark eased his way back onto the sidewalk, clutching at the stack of files that he was basically required to read as all new journalists were at his new place of employment. He carefully weaved his way through the crowd, doing his absolute best to avoid bumping into anyone simply because he feared that he might accidentally harm them if he were to make a wrong move.
That was the thing about being around people. He had to always be careful. It was something that he had grown used to. Kind of like a habit that one could never break. At least it was a good habit.
Unfortunately, that didn't mean that other people were so cautious. A balding man roughly nudged his way past Clark, who instantly jumped out of the way and, in the process, dropped his entire stack of papers. They scattered onto the sidewalk below and he weakly called out after the already fading figure of the rude man, "Sorry! I'll just...okay." He stooped over to pick the papers up, doing his best to avoid the crowd all the while.
