Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:gwen cooper, martha jones

WHO:  Martha Jones and [Open]
WHAT: searching for decent coffee and hopefully something to distract her from over thinking everything.
WHEN: late afternoon/early evening
WHERE: random cafe.
RATING: TBA
STATUS: Incomplete

From not being able to speak to finding out vampires exist it was easy for Martha to say she had a lot to occupy her mind. It was a hell a lot of information to process and it kept her busy most of the time. But not today, she had had enough of sitting moping around thinking, it didn’t help at all, if anything it only gave her a headache. Martha had left her hotel room in search of a decent looking cafe which hopefully served strong coffee. She didn’t even want to try tea, somehow it wasn’t the same unless it was made by a friend or family member with the intention of helping you relax, a strange cafe in a still fairly new place would not have the same effect.

After a few minutes of searching she found a small, not that expensive looking – because frankly she couldn’t afford it – cafe and headed inside, she sat herself down at a free table nearest to the door but not before ordering a coffee from the counter.

Once her coffee had been handed to her Martha shifted her eyes toward the window, she had been trying very hard not to think about anything other than how nice it would be to drink something other than water but it was hard not to let her thoughts stray. She had found what The Master had said about having The Doctor safe and sound quite worrying, one could argue that it had been that way aboard the Valiant and she remembered all too well how that turned out.  Martha let out a deep sigh and leant back in her chair, mentally scolding herself for doing the one thing she had promised herself not to do, over think everything. But one thought led to another and another until she had moved onto to fretting over finding a job and a cheaper place to stay, she couldn't rely on tabs forever.

It had been some time since Gwen had blinked and appeared in the middle of L.A, and she was still no less dazed and confused than she had been when she had first arrived. It was good to know that she wasn't alone in the situation, but that didn't really help her with finding money and shelter. Her credit card wasn't going to hold up forever - her only hope was that when she failed to pay the bill, the company would track her down as quickly as they would have if she were in Cardiff. They seemed to be about her only hope of being rescued. Rhys would be going spare, but she doubted he'd think to check the states. In the past.

So, there she was wandering about the streets of L.A, fretting over just about everything and partially wondering if she ought to try and form a Torchwood in this crazy city (or at least see if the local police were hiring) when she spotted a familiar face through a cafe window. That was the first thing to put a smile on her face in a while, and she waved through the window before dashing through the door, narrowly avoiding knocking over another customer as she edged her way toward Martha Jones.

"Hello! You have no idea how glad I am to see you!" she exclaimed once she was close enough to be heard.

“Gwen!” Martha smiled in relief, quickly setting her half finished coffee down and getting up to greet her with a quick hug. It felt like it had been months since she had last saw someone familiar and could trust. So far she had only seen Rose and The Master face to face, one being someone she had just met and the other had destroyed her life.

“It’s mad isn’t it?” She commented and gestured around as she sat back down. Landing in L.A without an explanation and then all of the drama that came with being there was pretty much indescribable but mad came bloody well close.

Gwen couldn't help but smile as Martha moved to give her a hug. Although Gwen was used to having strange things happen to her it did help to have familiar faces around her while they were happening. She slid into the seat across from Martha, leaning forward eager to talk about the unusual circumstances with someone she knew she could trust.

"Completely mental. Even for us it's completely mental!" she exclaimed. "At least we're usually the only ones noticing how mental it is. Everyone talking about vampires, and werewolves and goodness knows what else as if it's all perfectly normal, that's what gets me!" she pointed out.

“I’m still getting my head around vampires being real..I mean, aliens is one thing but vampires.” Martha kept her voice low enough so Gwen could hear but others passing by the table would not. “I didn’t realise this sort of stuff was that acceptable but it seems to be this city, everything happens here.”

When she thought about it she had pretty much accepted aliens had existed from the off but then she had proof staring her right in the face and also being on the moon kind of sped up that thought process. Maybe if she saw a vampire face to face she would accept they were real. “Did you just turn up here too? That’s what I can’t work out, one minute I was in my flat and the next here.”
