Strangely Human Who: Cornelius, Cordelia [Open to Hyperion] What: Looking for Shelter Where: The Hyperion Hotel When: Early Evening Rating: PG
..... Cornelius didn't know how he felt about trusting a human. Well, actually, he did know how he felt about having to trust a human. And that bothered him. It bothered him a lot. But he didn't know what else to do. This place was more foreign to him than anything he had seen in his entire life. And for one Ape he'd seen a lot. More than any Ape was allowed to see in some situations. The laws were very strict in the Central City. Especially with Zaius in charge as Keeper of the Faith and Minister of Science.
Zira always said there was something hypocritical about that. She was the type to complain. A rabble-rouser. Cornelius was not. He liked his comfortable life. Of course, it hadn't been very comfortable since Taylor had shown up, but he still tried to keep them respectable among Ape society. And that was no easy task! Rest assured, he'd be on his toes trying to keep his job for the rest of his years. But that was the sacrifice he made for love.
Peter (such a peculiar name for a human) had told him about the Hy-peer-yon. That was a strange name for a place, Cornelius had thought at the time, but he didn't argue. He didn't argue because he wanted to get as far away from that strange man as quickly as possible. Which was what he did soon after their conversation. Although, he didn't really believe that the conversation had taken place. This must have been a nightmare.
But after wandering about the frightening city (and seeing no other Apes!) he decided he needed to find some place to stay. Or some place better to hide! He didn't know what these humans might do to him. They were so unlike any humans he had ever known!
Too much like Taylor, he thought.
Oh, if only Zira were here! She would know the best course of action, for sure.
It took him a while to locate the Hyperion Hotel, but once he did he approached it with extreme caution. The human had seemed nice, but that didn't mean his intentions were good. For all Cornelius knew, he might be walking into a trap. And then what would he do? He was an unfamiliar Ape in an unfamiliar city in an unfamiliar world.
He stared at the entrance doors from the outside for a long moment, suitcase tightly clutched in his hand, before a rattling car scared him into pushing the doors open and safely hiding himself on the inside.
