Jareth hated libraries. He hated the musky smell of the human history books, he hated the children that seemed to crawl and drool over everything, he hated the stern librarian women who stared at him as though his extraordinary clothing labeled him as some sort of threat...in fact, he hated everything about them, with one exception.
They offered free internet access. With the library's computer he was free to keep track of the city's activities (Sarah's activities, were he being honest.) There was just something about buying his own computer that Jareth could not do, as though it would be lowering himself to an almost human level, and that was unthinkable.
Spotting the two women who were eying him and whispering, he thought of another thing he hated--that damned movie. Sometimes people recognized him here, treated him like he was a common human celebrity and demanded autographs and for him to hold their drooling children and pose for pictures. It took all of his willpower when one particularly enamored woman thrust her unfortunate looking child into his arms and said "take him!" while she stepped back to snap a picture with her cell phone not to do as she asked and take the child far, far away. Today, however, wasn't about his hate for the library, it was about him gloating. It was so empowering to be one of the very few who could still talk, and he liked to gloat about it. He cordially bid the librarian hello, which made her silently gasp, and walked to the computer, intending to message Sarah.
Seeing her message first was a pleasant surprise, and for a short time he enjoyed bantering with her, imagining what he wanted to in her replies.
And then HE showed up. The scar faced, doe eyed boyfriend that she seemed so head over heels for, and Jareth saw red. The man couldn't even talk anymore, she had resorted to drawing breasts on him herself, and yet still Sarah refused to see reason.
A plan was forming in his mind, a plan that he had been idly considering for some time, and as he slowly typed his replies to Peter's messages one letter at a time, the plan became more firm. Someday soon the opportunity to show Sarah what a weak man she had picked for herself would arise, and when it did, Jareth would not hesitate to act.
