The epidemic of silence had delayed his arrival at the Hyperion once already. And Obi-Wan wasn't about to let it delay him again. He had promised Luke that he would go there, at least for a while. And he promised that he would take Aayla with him. Really, he was going there more for her and for Luke than for himself. And though he'd never say so out loud, he had the feeling that Luke was hoping that his being at the Hyperion would make him less of a hermit. For lack of a better word. At least, that was part of the impression he'd received.
Obi-Wan didn't think that he'd become a hermit. But maybe he had. He had spent more than his fair share of time alone out there in the desert sands of Tatooine. Was he doing the same here? Maybe he was just too accustomed to being alone. To being the silent observer. Funny how that worked out, wasn't it? He'd spent years in solitude and silence, watching Luke from afar. And now he really was silent. Though not be his choice, of course.
So after his peculiar interlude with Miss Braddock, Obi-Wan returned to the Riverside Shelter to find Aayla. And together the two of them made the relatively short journey to the Hyperion Hotel. Was he nervous? No. Well, only about seeing Luke, perhaps. He knew the boy thought highly of him. Well, highly of the future him. He was, admittedly, a little worried that he wouldn't live up to those expectations as his younger self. It was a strange emotion for a Jedi of his years. It made him feel like he'd regressed back to the anxious Padawan. Still seeking out reassurance from his mentor and his fellow trainees.
The bus was the easiest and quickest transportation that Obi-Wan could find for the two of them. And though it might have been awkward for Aayla (since she didn't exactly fit in on this planet,) he hoped that no one would cause a problem. Luckily, that was the case. But much of that might have had something to do with the lack of speech in the city. People were keeping to themselves more and more.
When they arrived at the Hyperion, he stepped up to the door. He really wasn't sure what to expect. But they came on invitation. So hopefully all they'd have to do was walk in.
