Heidi, feeling the beginings of cabin fever, had opted to wait in the hotel's small front courtyard. The boys had decided to join her along the way, abandoning the couch in the lobby they'd been hiding under, watching the legs of other residents amble by, and were giving their own a stretch racing eachother around the fountain and bushes in an increasingly complicated and elaborate series of turns, swivels, detours and laps.
It was always close, the boys being evenly matched. Simon had the longer legs, but Monty had a seemingly bottomless pool of energy, and he drew from it in bucketloads.
Sitting on an edge of the fountain, she had been content to watch, holding a box of Lucky Charms down with her elbow against the breeze and occasional flailing limb. That was, until Monty swerved towards the entrance, street beyond it, and Simon, unwilling to be outrun, followed with no obvious intention of stopping. She was on her feet in a flash, catching the youngest Petrellis as they were halfway across the sidewalk.
"Alright you two, you know the rules; no playing in traffic until you pay your own insurance." She chided, scooping them up around the waists and putting them (protesting the entire way) over shoulders in one smooth, familiar move.
