"That is like...seriously, the best fucking costume ever Dude! Like...how long did it take to get the paint on? "
Costume? ...Paint? ...Dude? Aayla thought all this staring at the young man that had stopped in front of her, intercepting her walk. He had long brown hair, brown eyes and his hormones were practically oozing out of his pores. But neither his age nor his oily cheetos baked skin were the thing that had caught her attention. His t-shirt had Grand Master Yoda holding onto his green light saber in Ataru stance. Beneath him the words STARWARS were emblazoned in crisp green font.
Aayla let her surprise pass over her and through her and didn't let it betray her expression. Instead she let her eyes trail up to meet the boys. A smile forced its way across her face, and her magenta lips parted slightly revealing pearl white teeth. "You've not seen better? You're surprised by my appearance but I'll need more of an explanation."
Any confusion she felt about this strange situation was held at bay because she could feel genuine curiosity being expressed by the human. She sensed that his belief was toppling over from reality to fantasy and she thought it could be cruel to push it over completely. He didn't mean any harm. She was the stranger here and not the other way around. If he knew about Yoda and revered the Grand Master enough to pay tribute with cloth and paint then she might not be as far out on the outer rim than she had first believed. Aayla knew that nothing about being here was straightforward. In fact, she had felt the presence of two distinct Force signatures. She knew Master Kenobi and Anakin were here somewhere. Maybe they were brought for the same reasons.
"I think it's the Lekku." he continued. " I've never seen someone pull off a Twi'Lek like you are now, Man. You could sell those. You'd make a fortune. Twi'Lek's are hot." He swallowed as he let his eyes drop and scan over her. But, he was so nervous about his own lechery that she couldn't feel insulted. It wasn't unknown for men to appreciate her form. And, those on the cusp of manhood had a harder time keeping their impulses within boundaries. He wouldn't know what to do with it if he had it.
Lekku....Twi'Lek. He knows my race. I've been wrong in my assumptions. I must keep my mind open.
There were many things about this conversation that Aayla was working through even as it went on. It was obvious that he knew about her race of people. But, he was disbelieving and unsure about what he was looking at. "People dress like Twi'Lek's?" The question spilled out of her.
The boy looked at her for a moment because he didn't quiet understand what she meant. "um...Yeah...Well....Mostly chicks. I think I saw someone come to a convention as Bib Fortuna once" He replied with a shrug.
She licked her lips. Convention. There it was again. So, she was to believe that people came together at this convention and dressed up like Twi'Lek? She should placate him and send him on his way. "But not as well as I do." She stated this as fact and then winked. She had decided to play into the situation without being deceitful. She watched as his eyes started to scrutinize the whole of what he had assumed to be fake. But, as he looked closer he noticed that her lakku were moving on their own. The flesh was not cold and dead like latex but the ends instead twirled and scrolled with a fluidity of an elephants trunk or an octopus' tentacles under water.
"How...did..." He had to give her a double take. Slowly it began to dawn on him that something wasn't exactly right. It was the perfect time to act.
"You don't see anything unusual...." She said softly, easy as a breeze. He nodded and mouthed her words quietly. " You should go home and forget you ever saw me...." He blinked a few times and repeated those words too. Then he began to turn slowly and move off. She watched him take a few steps, pause to scratch his head and move off set in the haze of a waking dream. "I need to find Master Kenobi and Anakin. I need to find someone that knows what is going on."
