Mikhail was somebody who hadn’t stepped outside since he was seventeen, and he was twenty two now, which meant that almost five years had come and gone. With an array of scars covering his arms he inspected the streets of Los Angeles, every corner and every face that he could come into contact with. He wanted to touch everything, wanted to walk on the grass and feel the sun against his skin. He’d missed the sun and the freedom that came without walls and locked doors. The outside world had been something that he’d taken for granted but once he was forbidden its pleasures, he knew that he would have killed to have it back.
And he did kill. He’d killed many to get back what had been denied him.
Lex had promised him, more than once that he’d be escorted outside and Mikhail had taken a deep breath and behaved himself, because not putting up a fight was what Lex wanted from him. For five months he had refrained from straining and thrashing when the needles were put to his arms and he hadn’t scratched at any faces or kicked at any shins. He’d been good. He’d been as sated as a cat sleeping in a patch of sunlight. His agreement to stop struggling hadn’t lasted. He grew tired of being on his best behavior. Without seeing any rewards for being even tempered, Mikhail had gone back to acting the part of the difficult ‘patient.’
Free of his restraints, Mikhail was polluted with the madness that sprouted from being put away and exposed to unwanted testing for years. Like a tiger who had been taken from his habitat and put behind bars, he was wild and famished for revenge now that he was out. Newly acquainted with what it felt like to be free, it wasn’t Mikhail’s time to see that Lex had helped him and not hurt him. 33.1 was such a small price to pay for having his power restored. Once he calmed down enough to let that sink in, his vendetta against Lex could turn into praise.
But until then, he was out for blood.
“Chloe!” Standing in the middle of a lit hallway, Mikhail bellowed out to her in a thick, clear accent. There were five women lining the walls to his right and three armed guards with their own guns held to their heads on his left, all quiet but terrified of what he’d made them do. What he wanted was close by according to one of the women he’d demanded spit out the answer to his question.
The thing on the first floor, the odd creature-- Venom-- was rooted to the carpet and told to stay where he was. He’d been snarled and snapped at, but not even Venom could withstand Mikhail’s power over him. It was impossible.
“Come and say hello before I have to start killing people! You wouldn’t want that, would you?”
