Though it was obvious people were startled (he couldn't blame them--he was, too), Luke was grateful for the fact that they'd simply taken it in stride and dismissed it as another oddity of Los Angeles. --Los Angeles, the place Luke had been certain he'd dreamed up years ago. He'd always had an overactive imagination, so it hadn't been such a far-fetched idea. To discover that it was real, to find himself back in it after so long, and with so little changed.. it was almost too much.
Nathan across the network was just as he remembered him--warm and entirely disarming--and Luke could feel tension leaving his body as he descended the stairs and crossed to the kitchen. He moved with a strong sense of deja vu as he collected bowls and spoons, remembering a time when he'd had to pull a chair across the floor to get them. It was all so strange.
He wasn't precisely what people expected when they thought of a Jedi master and the son of the infamous Darth Vader. At just five-and-a-half-feet, and slim and fine-boned as his sister, he nevertheless had a certain presence, even for non-Force sensitives. He projected confidence and serenity; there was a kind of ageless quality to him. It was a far cry from his younger self, who had been defensive and disgruntled. It was funny, how war and duty could change a person.
It was while he was exploring the freezer that he sensed Nathan nearing, and pulled back in time to see the other man enter the kitchen.
It was so strange, to think that no time had passed here. Nathan was the very same Nathan he'd been.. twenty years ago for Luke. --Bittersweet, seeing him, and thinking of how kind he'd been after he'd been so injured by Exar Kun.
"Nathan," he greeted, and closed the freezer, turning so the other man could see him properly. --Was he nervous? Perhaps a bit. After all, for Nathan, he'd been a ten-year-old only a few hours ago.
