WHO: Anakin and Padmé WHAT: Breakfast in bed... and a dose of reality on the side. WHEN: Morning WHERE: Padmé's hotel room. RATING: Totally kid friendly STATUS: Complete
Having spent the better part of the last few days feeling not quite right, Padmé had finally gotten a decent night of sleep once she'd figured out what was wrong with her. Or, in this case, not wrong. Simply different.
She hadn't believed it, not at first, and had ultimately taken one of those at home kits to make certain of it. The results were positive and, after another one just to be on the safe side, there was no more denying something she had only dared to wish for until now.
She was pregnant. The news was both frightening, and exciting, all at once. She was far from home, or from anything even remotely resembling home, but she had Anakin beside her. There was a worry there, of course, that the medicines of this place were simply too archaic to ensure a safe birth. After all, according to the medical professionals she'd seen after her miscarraige, she shouldn't have been able to even conceive another child. Yet she also knew instinctively that things would work out.
Now, of course, she had the daunting task of telling Anakin. She wasn't concerned with his reaction - not as she'd been when she'd told him the first time - but she did want to make certain he was told in a good way. The first time had been told in whispers and their joy had to be contained. The second time she simply hadn't told him and had waited for him to realize it on his own. This time...
It had to be right. This was the start of a new beginning for them and while Padmé didn't expect perfection, she wouldn't accept much less.
Still, for all of her worries, she'd fallen asleep and slept well. Waking to the sound of someone at the door, she smiled sleepily and gently allowed the recesses of her dreams to slide away from her as her husband stepped inside the hotel room.
