Who: Carmen Sandiego + [Open]
What: Theft.
Where: Grauman's Chinese Theater
When: Early afternoon
Rating: PG
Status: Complete
It was a sad day, Carmen thought, when she'd been forced to choose between a piece of sidewalk and what she considered to be a very ugly building.
She'd worn flats this time, though it was less necessary here than when climbing the jagged Hollywood Hills. She was standing on the aforementioned sidewalk now, and her favorite red heeled boots likely would have been appropriate. Instead she wore flat, brown riding boots. Her jeans tucked into them, and besides her red leather jacket (which always tended to stand out in June in any city, but especially in dry and hot Los Angeles) she blended into the crowd quite well.
Los Angeles was a rather boring city in Carmen's eyes. There just wasn't much that caught her eye. Art history was her main interest, and the rich cinematic history Los Angeles and Hollywood held really didn't do much for her. She had the sign, and now she had the second of her triumvirate, but even having those things didn't really do much for her perpetual itchy fingers.
Carmen sighed, and patted the pocket around her waist. She had to admit, after she'd finally made up her mind about taking the infamous Hollywood Walk of Fame, the process of taking it had been rather underwhelming. And now that she had it… well, she simply wanted someone to notice. You would think that with all the tourists that passed in front of the theater, someone would eventually note that Clint Eastwood's hand print was no longer there to match their own up with.
No one's handprint was there. Or foot print. There were no names or stars. They were gone, replaced with normal sidewalk.
She sighed. She had the thing, but where was the joy in that? The next in the triumvirate would be Grauman's Theater itself, but she didn't receive any joy from that thought either. What she needed was a real challenge.
"Oh my God, WHERE IS IT!?"
Normally those words would have made her practically squeal in glee, but today the left her almost cold. Not even watching the tourists slowly note that the sidewalk was indeed gone boosted her spirits. She shook her head and pulled her coat around her as she turned away.
Was it possible that Carmen Sandiego was bored? If so, it was only unfortunate for the rest of the city.
