When the message had reached Katara's phone shortly after midnight, she had just been getting ready for bed. Within moments of learning that Peter hadn't checked in after going out alone, and a quick call to his cell phone that ultimately went to his voicemail, the young woman had been knocking on Cordelia's door. Not twenty minutes later the two of them were dressed and outside, searching the area for the missing man and hoping against hope that there was some logical explanation for his disappearance.
When they found the tranquilizer darts, however, Katara had felt that hope begin to fade.
Still, they hadn't given up. Taking to the streets had seemed like the next logical step and they'd easily made it, working quite well together while they'd questioned anything and everything they'd come across that could answer them and might have some insight. By the time Veronica had raised the general alarm at the hotel, though, they still didn't have much in the way of information. It was as though Peter had simply vanished into thin air.
So they'd turned their attention to the darts. And a little over an hour after Katara had posted her message for the Hyperion residents, via a computer in the laboratory where they were having the substance on the tip of their only evidence tested, the duo returned as promised. Stepping into the lobby, Cordelia instantly moved toward her computer and the Waterbender glanced around with an expression that was a mixture of determination and pure exhaustion. She hadn't slept in well over twenty-four hours by this point, but she wasn't about to start now. They were going to find Peter. Katara refused to accept anything less.
