Maria hadn't stopped moving for nearly 48 hours. The only reason she finally did, pure exhaustion. If she could have, she would have kept going, would have never stopped. Having to though, that was a good thing.. She had plenty of distance between her and anyone who could have been following her still, (not that it seemed likely they would have gone after her. After all, she was the only one who was still purely human in the group. The least interesting and least important of them all.) and no idea where she was. Worse then that, she had no idea where any of the others were. She wasn't even sure when her and Michael had gotten split up.
Sitting up, she looked around the cheap motel room. A year ago she would have felt guilty about breaking into the crappy room to crash, but now? Now it was fairly normal. She didn't have the funds to pay for a room, and she couldn't just sleep anywhere. Not with the government after her. Fully awake she decided to take the time risk and grab a shower and change into something else from the bag she had with her (the small duffel that, for the most part, held her whole life now). As soon as she was out of the shower and dressed, she was sneaking out of the motel room and on her way.
A few blocks later, she found herself in a gas station, waiting in line to buy a juice and hopefully a local paper. Stepping up the cash register, she handed over her juice. "And can I get a local paper?" The guy rang it up, "total's $3.10, and papers by the door, top shelve." With a smile she handed over four dollars, grabbed her change and juice from the counter, then grabbed a paper on the way out. She walked a couple more blocks, finally finding a small park.
Grabbing one of the benches, she shoved Alex's guitar case under her feet and her duffel against her side. Then sipped her juice and finally opened the paper. Upon seeing where she was now, she couldn't help the surprised exclamation. "L.A?!" Nervously she looked around from behind her paper, sure no one was paying any attention to her after her outburst, she went back to reading. How did I end up in L.A?!
