Although he was doing his best to forget about what he had seen, the same thoughts kept pushing their way back into his mind. Fictional, indeed? Of course, he'd spotted the various Harry Potter characters wandering around, and his encounter with Shaggy of Scooby Doo had been alarming to say the least. But he wasn't fictional, and the Time War? Well, that certainly wasn't fictional, and how anyone could sit and watch a movie about it, probbaly munching away on their popcorn and marvelling at the special effects that depicted the destruction of a planet.. oh his planet. A very real, non-fictional planet.
Dwelling on it was going to drive him crazy, and although he really wanted nothing more than to go to bed for an indefinite amount of time... distraction was better. Well, better in his mind. In reality it was incredibly unhealthy and bound to come back to haunt him at some point in the future, but he wasn't going to worry about that right now. No, right now he was going to lift up the floor panelling and scoop out the remaining pieces of the console. He'd managed... well, no, he'd watched Romana manage to clear the floor of rubble, and the pieces that were ready to be reattached were balanced on various trays around the console; the pieces that were definitely not ready were waiting in the tool room to be fixed.
Now that the top floor had been cleared the Doctor was lying on his stomach with a headlamp on as he reached under the floor panel, carefully using tweezers to pick out the small pieces of the console that had fallen through the grating as though it were a very grand game of Operation.
