WHO: Veronica Mars
WHERE: The mansion basement where she’s being kept.
WHEN: Does time even matter right now?
RATING: R.
STATUS: Complete
The longer that she was there, the less hope she had for a rescue. She wasn’t even sure anyone there cared enough to rescue her, at least…not like her Dad would. Or Logan. If Logan were here, he’d be raising holy hell until she was brought safely back home again, or he’d get himself killed in the process, but Veronica couldn’t think about that right now. Logan was not here. There was a possibility that no one she knew from home ever would be here, and she had to face that.
All of this was strange to her. It wasn’t so long ago that she was a normal girl, who probably never would have found herself in this current situation. Of course, a normal girl would have died from blood loss by now, too. Veronica had to accept it already, she was not a normal girl anymore, and in all likely hood…she never would be again, if she made it out of this alive. The bracelet did heal anything too severe that was done to her, but it also kept her weak at the same time. So even though, Veronica was still breathing and mostly conscious, she couldn’t do anything because she didn’t have the strength.
“Boy, this is a quite a mess you’ve gotten yourself into, huh Ronica?” Lilly asked, suddenly standing next to her. She obviously must be unconscious right now to be seeing her. Lilly was in her pep squad uniform and she had a gaping head wound, the one that killed her.
“Lilly?” Veronica asked, she knew this couldn’t be real.
Lilly laughed. “Of course, who else?” She looked around. “This place is kind of a drag, V, why don’t you get out of here.”
“It’s not exactly that easy, Lilly. I’m in chains.” Veronica told her. She was effectively stuck, and it wasn’t like Spike or his gal pals were going to come and let her out of said chains anytime soon.
“Cowboy up, Mars.” She heard another voice say. It was Logan, he was here. Now she knew she was hallucinating or dreaming. Seeing Lilly was one thing, but seeing Logan? “Come on Veronica, we know you’re stronger than this. Get the hell out of this place and come back to me. You know I would never let anyone hurt you.”
“I can’t even move let alone break free of the chains…” Veronica protested.
Lilly shook her head. “What is inside you is stronger than any of this, V. Don’t give up. It’s not time to join me yet. Someone will find you. You’re going to be okay, Veronica, but you have to keep fighting. You can’t just let go and accept that you’re gonna die.”
“But I’m so tired, Lilly.” Veronica cried to her best friend, she couldn’t take much more of this.
“Suck it up.” Logan told her. “Don’t give in. Get out of here and come back to me. We’ve been through so much already. Epic, remember? I’m not gonna let anyone hurt you, Veronica. Just come back to me.”
“See, your friends do care.” Lilly said, with a nod, as she danced around the room a little. “Gotta go now, keep fighting Veronica, no matter what they do to you…just keep fighting.”
“Lilly no!” Veronica exclaimed, her eyes filled with tears. “Don’t go…don’t leave me all alone here.”
Lilly turned to her. “I’m sorry Veronica, but I can’t stay and you can’t come with me. You’ve got a long life ahead of you. You haven’t been a big enough pain in the ass to enough people to die yet.” She gave her friend a long hug, as best as she could with the chains there.
And then Lilly was gone.
“Come back to me, Veronica.” Logan told her. “No one writes songs about the ones that come easy.” He told her, touching her face for a brief moment, and then he too, was gone.
Veronica’s eyes shot open and she screamed in the darkness, but there was no one there. She was completely and utterly alone.
