Who: Max and Diana What: Familiar faces When: Wednesday evening Where: The roof of the Westin hotel Rating: PG
m It hadn't taken long at all for her to break through the security systems which automatically locked the doors leading to the hotel roof and the cameras that recorded everything that went on. Early twenty first century tech was just so easy, Maxine almost couldn't take it. She was paying for her stay with a fake bank account, hiding out in a gorgeous suite, and breaking and entering onto roofs she had no business wandering around on. No one to help her up here if she fell off, she knew. Of course, hopefully, Diana would be waiting for her. She really hoped this was all going to pan out. The older woman might not have been from 2040, but she was at least, in some way, part of Max's world.
She'd resigned herself to the fact that her life was going to be less than normal the first time she'd seen Terry jump from her window in the Batsuit. But this? This really went beyond less than normal. That she was walking out onto the roof of a thirty-five story building to meet a heroine who was like something out a legend to her definitely qualified as weird. Cool as all else, but definitely not something a normal girl did on a Wednesday night.
She almost missed homework.
Max closed the roof's door behind her after jamming the bible she'd found in her bedside table into the door jam so that she could get back into the building once she and Diana had finished. She had the feeling that's not what the hotel had meant for the book to be used for, but the only other thing she'd had was a magazine and her shoe. She needed her shoes and the magazine wasn't thick enough. Sometimes you didn't need technology so much as a good thick book.
She walked out a ways onto the roof. It was getting dark and breezy this high up. She could feel goosebumps raise on her arms as she waited.
