Damien was standing in the lobby, in front of the receptionist. "So.. like I said, I'd like to have an extra room. Penthouse suite, with a good view of the city. Put it under my name."
Scorpius walked through the doors then, wearing a grey sweater, blue slacks, with a dark overcoat. His skin was a bit wet, as was his hair that had now been matted down. Even in bad weather, he was hot. "Hello.. Damien?"
Damien smirked. Hmm, yes, this was a nice view. He smiled and nodded in reply. "Yes, that's me. I'm in the process of getting that room for you. How does a penthouse sound to you? Multiple beds, lots of open space, a minibar, hot water, feather pillows, cable TV.. a view of the city. Top floor."
Scorpius looked at him in surprise, at this young man in all black. He was impressed. And speechless, but only for a moment. "Err.. yeah. Yes, of course. That sounds quite splendid."
"Excellent, then it's settled." Damien smiled, taking out his Gold Visa credit card. "Charge it to my account." He handed it to her to scan, then signed his name on a piece of paper."
The woman handed the card back to him, as well as a key. "All set, Mr. Thorn. You two enjoy your stay at Sunset Tower Hotel. Room service is available 24 hours a day."
"Always a pleasure." Damien grinned, as if he'd mean something else, then handed the key to Scorpius. "Alright, Scor. Let's go check out that the room and make sure it meets your expectations. Follow me."
Scorpius followed him, passing through two metal doors that slid open.. and closed once they were inside the very small room. And then he felt movement. "What? Wait, hold on! What the fuck is going on-"
"Shh..." Damien placed a hand over his mouth briefly. "Don't panic now. I know they don't have these in Hogwarts, since magic shuts down anything electronic. It's an elevator. A muggle form of transportation, it gets you to the other floors. So.. try not to flip out. Okay?" He removed his hand.
Scorpius nodded. "Umm... alright." He was a bit curious. He wondered how this guy knew about Hogwarts, or what muggles were.. he sure looked like a muggle. Some small part of him felt like he should run, like he should be very worried about whatever Damien was. But then he'd forgotten that for some reason, when Damien smiled, and besides... he was getting a free room here! Can't beat a deal like that.
"Good. That's good... I realize this is all new to you, but it'll be fine." Damien looked at him then. Ohh, he loved deceiving young minds. So ripe for corruption, for believing whatever you wanted. Perfect to mold. Perfect sinners.
Scorpius paused, seeing the numbers change above the doors. Getting higher. He supposed this device made a little sense. "Okay. I'm curious, though. If you don't want money in return.. then what else would you want?" He was just a tad suspicious. "I'm very grateful, I really am.. but I'm also curious."
'Curious', hmm? I bet you are. Chuckling at his mental joke, he placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "That's quite alright, Scor. I understand. I don't really need any payment of return." He stepped in front of him then, standing very close as he brushed a damp blond lock from the wizard's eyes.
Scorpius looked cautiously at him. "Huh. Well.. okay. I was just wondering. That's all." He did feel a bit confused, though. He had the weirdest sense that this guy, this benefactor.. was he.. flirting with him? He couldn't be sure, as Damien hadn't been too obvious. Maybe he was reading it wrong.
Damien whispered in his ear then, "I don't need money. But I'm sure I can think of other forms of payment-" There was that familiar ding sound, as the doors slid open once more. He then stepped away, leaving Scorpius confused as he stepped out. He did love messing with people's minds. "Well? Come on. Don't want you trapped in there."
"Ohh.. right. Yeah." He chuckled nervously as he scratched his head, quickly stepping out, glad to have a bit more distance between them. He followed Damien as they walked down the hallway.
Damien pointed to a set of double doors. "Here.. this is your room. I live next door. So, open it.."
Scorpius smiled then. "Great." He put the key in and turned it.. the doors opened. He slowly stepped inside, his eyes widening in shock as he took it all in. The place was every bit as good as the other boy said it was. "Wow. Umm.. wow. Yeah, this is.. great. I believe it will suit my needs perfectly."
"And your wants as well." Damien nodded, walking to stand next to him. He pointed at the TV. "That is a television. Muggle entertainment. The remote on top of it.. well, there's a manual in one of the drawers. That phone machine.. just press 267 for the lobby. Room service, requests, complaints, whatever."
Scorpius stared, still in awe of the room. Then he turned around to face him. "I.. I'm not sure what to say. This.. this is perfect. I'm very grateful, sir." He shivered then. "I should probably clean up."
"Just say thanks," Damien said to him. "Yes.. that might be a wise course of action. Since you're wet and all. It'd be best to take advantage of the shower. I'm going to leave you to it now, so feel free to explore things here. Take your time."
Scorpius nodded. "Alright. Thank you again, Damien. You've been very helpful."
"Hey, that's what friends are for. You needed help, and I gave it. I'll be around. Call me if you need me to see to any more of your.. needs." He brushed his hand lightly down the wizards cheek. "You should really dry off, though. You could get sick if you don't." He turned to leave.
Scorpius stood there, confused once again. He wasn't sure what that last bit was about. He wasn't sure if he should ask, on the chance that he'd be wrong and risk insulting his benefactor. But impulse got the better of him. "Damien! Umm... you, err.."
Damien turned around, a smile on his face. "Yes? What is it? I hope I didn't miss anything.."
Scorpius opened his mouth, as if to say something. But words failed him. What could he possibly say without sounding like an idiot? Or a git? "Umm.. nevermind. I'm alright here."
"Great. Well, call if you have any more questions for me." Then he walked outside, closing the doors behind him as he went on his way.
Scorpius stood there in silence for about five minutes. Then he smiled, looking at the entirety of this great room he'd been given. Seemed like he was lucky once again.
Damien laughed quietly to himself, an evil smirk on his face as he went into the elevator. Ahhh, mortals were so fun to toy with... and so easy. They always were.
