She kept the door open with her foot for him before heading toward the stairs. She was only on the second floor so it wouldn't take long. Leading him up the stairs, she kept her keys between her teeth until she got to the door of the little apartment. Putting down one of the bags, she opened the door before flicking on the lights. Apparently they used something called electricity now to keep rooms light, and to work the other appliances too. She was lucky, her electricity and the heating for the place was included in the amount she payed monthly to the man who owned the buildings.
"Come on in, she said with a smile before grabbing the bag and walking toward the little kitchen, dumping the bags on the unit. Once again, like every time she came home, she was grateful for the woman who gave her everything she needed.
