"Of course you are." she said simply, looking at her with an arched eyebrow. "You're the leader of am Offensive Team that's faced down some of the nastiest of the nasties. They work for you, you're their leader, eventually the leader has to make calls that not everyone likes, and then it has to be done, making you, technically, a superior." maybe this wasn't a military, or anything like the slayer set up, but the leader still had to make the call. This wasn't a small little group like the one she had in Sunnydale. This was big, this was a team, a team had a leader and eventually the leader had to make the choices. "You may love them to death but in the end you still have to make shitty calls that people will have to listen to."
And while she had no problem with that if she agreed, she'd downright refuse if she didn't, which she knew wasn't how a team like this as suppose to really work, was it? She didn't know if she saw herself as part of the team, or just an extension that did her own work.
"With you comes Sarah, Fred and Nathan, with Spike and Angel up there. This is your place, I'm cool with that, but I should probably just come right out and say I don't recognize people as bosses. Tried that once, they turned their back on me, so no more." they had almost let Angel die, and because of that the Watchers lost their Slayer, and she was done taking orders.
She was here as a weapon, but if they wanted her a someone to order around, not happening. "I've spent too many years dealing with things the way I know how to take a back seat now. I'm always going to do what I think is right. Not to say it's only my opinion that influences what I think is right. But..." she shrugged. "I'm not a follower. The only place for me on this 'team' is to follow." so she didn't really fully see herself as part of it.
