WHO: Buffy Summers and Kendra WHERE: LA Shopping District WHEN: BACKDATED: A few days before the wedding. WHAT: Buffy takes Kendra dress shopping. I live only to amuse you all. STATUS: Incomplete/Closed Rating: T for thoughts of maiming a fellow slayer? Likely PG.
Kendra had been more than a little perplexed about the e-mail she'd received that had invited her to a wedding. There had been a sensation of being ... touched that she'd actually been invited to anything, let alone a wedding. However, that wasn't the emotion she concentrated on. Perplexed was good. She knew perplexed. She'd felt the emotion in various forms. Touched? Well, touched was something foreign to her. Or it might as well have been. She'd felt touched, included, notice, remembered because of that brain-spell Wolfram and Hart had done. Kendra didn't like thinking about that. She also didn't like foreign. Which was why perplexed? Perplexed was good.
Very good.
Kendra had never been to a wedding before. She'd never been to any kind of celebration ... period. It was weird enough that she'd actually volunteered to help out with Faith's birthday. Yet she'd managed to get herself to think of it as doing something for a fellow, not to mention a senior, slayer. And not at all as this thing that would involve music and boys and people expecting her to be normal. To socialize and have fun. Things that came natural to a teenager that wasn't herself.
This wedding ... What did she do? Did she buy something? Were there rules? Could she wear her jeans? Likely not, right? What did she get the bride and groom? A dagger would be alright, wouldn't it? After all the groom was Faith's boyfriend's brother. They went after vampires and other creatures. Which brought the thought that they shouldn't be to Kendra's mind. Because they were civilians and that was dangerous. Not to mention SO against the rules it was ridiculous.
The thought occurred to her that she could just not go. Except that would be rude. And while Kendra rude just fine, thank you very much. However, the thought managed to make her feel bad. And as if she would be slighting a whole lot of people. Like Faith. Because it was her boyfriend's brother's wedding. And Ruby's da. Not to mention they'd actually thought of inviting her. Which was strange and weird. Because she was used to being neither seen or heard. Which meant used to not being noticed. Because that was how things should be. Were supposed to be. And the entire thing brought that unwanted touched feeling again. And lead her to feeling as if she was touched in the head.
She didn't know what to do or how to go about doing anything for any of this. Which was what lead her to Buffy door. Quite literally she had to drag herself there, feeling highly uncomfortable about being so ... culturally and emotionally stunted. Yet she reminded herself of her promise to try. And stated her case to Buffy.
Buffy's solution? Shopping.
Kendra was quite sure that it was really payback for muttered comments about the blonde vampire and for leaving the other one out in the sunlight. However, apparently the torture of searching for clothing was a necessary one. So she followed Buffy to store to store. Looking for a dress.
