It began in a small town, as stories often do. It was a quiet place for the most part, a town on the Lachlan River in NSW, Australia. The town was friendly as little towns ever are to strangers, but even so when they saw certain people.. well, they believed their reasoning for not liking them on sight was justified by the odd things that seemed to follow them.

You see, the good folks of Blackridge had the unfortunate delusion that magic, for better or worse, was nothing but fiction. Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter-Is-A-God type fiction. So when things that could not be explained away by reason and science occurred, they blissfully ignored it. Because if they ignored it, who was to say it was real? Certainly no one else in the Western World could still believe in those children’s tales, could they?

So yes, they did notice Raina Tibbits when she moved into the old Williamson house just outside of the main area of town, but if you ask them they’ll deny it. Because she’s too strange for them to acknowledge her existence without admitting that perhaps those old stories aren’t as fictitious as they previously thought. And this is where we meet the lady of the hour, Miss Raina Tibbits. Or Ms, if you prefer - she never minded either way. But she’d prefer you just called her Raina.

These are what I call roleplay icons, could also be called PB icons, though that usually means it's a person of some sort. They're very simple, basic in manners of design and colouring. I made these with Harry Potter in mind. That and owls look cool.

I'm making more for different animals/things such as wolves, horses etc. Feel free to use them, just remember with the credit. Oh, and Hedwig is actually the snowy owl with the speckles, just FYI. The movies used a boy for poor Hedwig because they didn't like the speckled females D:

So I thought I'd explain the purpose of paperweight a little better than I had room for on the user info.

This asylum is my personal outlet for all things creativity related. A lot of the graphics you can find on my personal website, crowned meadow. There is/will most likely be art, graphics, icons, fanfiction, original fiction, information about my characters, even other things such as layouts and resources may poke their sticky little heads up in here.

Everyone is welcome to look around paperweight and encouraged to comment, hopefully in a positive, constructive way, but as long as rudeness is avoided I don't mind either way. Please only take things that allow it and credit either my personal journal, this asylum or my website. Art, unless started otherwise can be iconed, with credit and if you tell me. Graphics that I do not specifically allow it on the post, should not be modified. Writing, again, can be iconed with credit and if you tell me, but cannot be removed, reposted or otherwise edited without permission.

Original worlds, characters, settings, etc should never be used by anyone but me without expressed permission and credit.

There was a giggle on the stairs as the house lights flickered. The old Grandfather clock ticked in the hall as more footsteps could be heard on the stair. Two girls, no older than seven were giggling and running about the house, trying to be silent but failing. It was the last day of the year and they could hear the sounds of people on the streets outside. Laughter and loud bangs, fireworks.

Katherine looked at Lola with a grin, the two girls were best friends but could have been twins. Sneaking outside, still in their bed clothes the girls climbed on some old barrels and watched as Katherine wheels and other fireworks exploded in a spectrum of colours, bursting like paint bombs against the London sky. Big Ben, blocks away chimed the midnight hour and the girls squealed with delight, jumping around on the old barrels before almost jumping on one another in a tight hug.

‘I love you Katherine!’

‘I love you Lola!’

And then together ‘Happy New Year!’

Drummer’s were beating their rhythm down the Thames, echoing off the water, and a distant storm threatened to rain on their parade. A roll of thunder, then…

A gunshot down the street disturbed the cheerful atmosphere. Katherine fell and Lola screamed, blood spraying all over her from her best friends throat. ‘Katherine!’
