Now imagine they once truly existed. Take it one step further and imagine that they aren't truly gone but instead their essence lives on, that they've been reincarnated inside of that guy who sits next to you on the bus every day. Or that odd chick from the Accounting department. It could even be you. They could be anyone, young or old, male or female, any race, any culture, anyone. The old deities once existed. They once walked the Earth, and mortals trembled at their names. Long ago, they each slowly faded out, their existence only remembered as fables and tales. During this decline, a group of deities from various different pantheons gathered together and they called upon all of their last remaining power reserves to create a solution to this problem. A reprieve, of sorts, for all of them, that they would find their essence, their souls, not dissipated amongst the vast nothingness of the Universe but instead reborn inside a mortal body. They would be mortal and diminished in the scope of their powers, but they would at the very least be alive. This was the price they paid. Some of them remember their past lives, some of them may never know, but they exist. And they are all drawn to this one city. Welcome to Pantheon University, nestled in scenic Bucksnort, Tennessee.Bucksnort is a smaller city, not nearly as large as Nashville, the state capital, which is only an hour's drive away. It is a scenic little university town, with a post office, laundromat, several diners, a small mall, and a large variety of clothing and trinket shops. Pantheon University has brought in tourists and lots of business to the small town and the residents of Bucksnort are quite proud of their university.
