MURDER/TORTURE SHOCKS KNOCKTURN ALLEY
By Betty Brathwaite
LONDON - After several days of seeming quiet, another incident has come forward and shocked the magical community out of its complacency. Sunday morning, Tracey Davis was found unconscious in an off-shoot of Knockturn Alley next to the dead body of her brother, John Davis. Both were brought immediately to St. Mungo's where it was ascertained that both had indications of having suffered from the Cruciatus curse. The cause of death for John Davis was discovered to be the transfiguration of his heart into a lump of clay. Aside from the after-effects of Cruciatus, Miss Davis also suffered some mild hypothermia from overnight exposure to the elements.
Miss Davis claims that the two had been abducted by a strange woman, of whom a description could not be given, who killed Mr. Davis. Despite having survived the ordeal, Miss Davis was unable - or unwilling - to provide any further information.
The DMLE has refused to state whether this is related to the recent rash of murders in the magical community, but The Daily Prophet believes this cannot be simple coincidence.
The Davis family has released a plea for information on the murder of their son, John, and demanded justice for his life in the bringing of the murderer to justice.
MINISTRY APPEAL TO PUBLIC
All witches and wizards who have recently discovered a strange mark upon their body AND who have been suffering from strange nightmares during the same period of time are asked to come forward and report it to Featherwink Jagger at the London DMLE Headquarters in the Ministry of Magic, either in person or by owl. This mark would be of unspecified size, and black in colour.
