April 2nd: Talion Justice and OTA
Who: OTA
When: After dark
Why: Arrival of Talion Justice
Rating: PG
Status: Open

A lone man on horseback slowly approached the mansion. The slowly broken trod of the horse could only barely hint at the exhaustion of both the beast and rider. Only the occasional stumble which bobbed the rider's head kept him from passing out. How long had he been riding? Couldn't remember any more, longer than any man should that much he knew. He had been told to ride East, past the known lands. He was to venture to some ... gathering house, to evaluate it and make sure stability and safety of the nations were maintained. Sounded simple enough, but he had long sense learned not to assume anything but the worst of any mission he was sent on. The Grand Tal was a brilliant, cunning, but manipulative man who answered to none. The Talion's were his pawns with which he fought to keep the known nations safe and stable. More than once Nolan had been manipulated and played by the Grand Tal, and Nolan hated the man for it. And Nolan hated the man even more for his convincing conviction and remorse for what he had to do with the Talions.

What was the angle on this mission? What was Nolan not yet seeing, but would be horribly revealed in time. He shook his head, didn't know, didn't care. He guided the steed back to the stables and cared for his horse. Always the horse first, then self. He splashed his face with water as he poured some for the horse. A little better, but not by that much. He groaned lightly patted his horse's neck. "Atta boy, now get some rest. The both of us." He turned and walked towards the mansion, pulling himself together. He was still ragged, more than ragged, from his long journey but he put his work face on. Exhaustion, fatigue, starving, dehydrated... it would be ignored until he could break down in private. This justice would not be seen vulnerable again. He pulled his dagger and sword from their saddle scabbard and fastened them to his belt. Then reached in and pulled a second dagger from his saddle back, his fingers brushing over it thoughtfully. It wasn't right, nothing was anymore. A deep sigh and he fought back all the emotions wanting to come up. It was too late, and he was too tired to deal with that now. Nolan tucked in the second dagger into his boot and made his way towards the mansion.

He rapped the heavy knocker against the great doors and stood back, waiting. The water he had splashed over his face only served to streak the dirt and dust that covered him. He looked down over his riding leathers and smirked. He was filthy. God he wanted, needed a bath, a shave, and to clean his gear. Then with fresh mind, to figure out what this place was and exactly why he was sent here. Another light flashed on in the mansion and he heard noises beyond the door. He rapped the knocker again and as he withdrew his hand looked at the great black skull tattoo on his palm, trying to decide if it should be hidden or not. Nothing had been said to him as such for this mission, and his leathers marked his position anyways. He was Talion Justice and would enter the place as such.

A short sarcastic laugh followed her description of a 'treat'. He followed her to the desk, noting her slight limp. Wondered what had happened that a doctor could patch herself up. Grimm went on with what she knew and Talion soaked in the information. He knew next to nothing about magic, only that he knew mages could do a good deal more with it than what they would admit to even. But travel by magic they had always told him was impossible. Now was that due to actual limitation of ability, or because mass transit by magic would cripple the world's economy by collapsing interstate commerce and transit system and all of those that are supported by it. Regardless, it didn't matter. He was here, as were others apparently not by will or reason. How wasn't his concern though. "What was your theory, it may still apply if I'm an anomaly?"

He rose a brow at the map and key, seemingly waiting for him. He wouldn't assume his arrival wasn't known by someone, but whom? Were there eyes behind paintings, watching the guests of the mansion as if it were some form of game? Talion really didn't like that idea, but he couldn't rule out anything yet. He smiled slightly to Grimm at the mention of rooms, "I'll be interested to see what they think my room looks like then..." He took the key and map when offered and cocked his head to the side a small degree, "Past? What do you mean? You seem quite unhappy with being here, how is this an improvement over where you were?"

He looked over the map for several moments. He noted Grimm's room and made note of names on the other rooms, all those he had yet to meet. "I appreciate the offer, I'm sure I'll take you up on it. I must confess, I'm exhausted and not thinking too clearly yet." He smiled weakly and looked around the room. "Well, map is helpful. But can I talk you into showing me about what you do know? Start trying to figure things out together maybe."

Dr. Grimm pursed her lips in thought, "My theory revolved around a device found in my home. It's called the Ark. It's used for interplanetary travel. It's how people from my home got from it to a planet called Olduvai." She shoved her hands back into her pockets, looking over at the gates for a moment. "I thought that maybe there was something similar here, pulling people from one place to another. The same could be true, but I don't know if there would just be the one point of entry or if there could be multiple points of entry."

She let out a long breath and raised a brow at his statement about his room. Did she want to know? Probably not. She bit her bottom lip, "See that's the thing. I don't know if I am in the past or not yet. Where I'm from it's the year 2046 AD, but no one seems to know what year we are in here at this current moment."

She let out a short laugh, and cast her dark gaze to the floor. A shadow of emotion passed over her face, "Well, two days ago on the planet Olduvai, where I was currently living and working out we had an incident. There were creatures, monsters, whatever you want to call them who went on a killing spree. Eighty-five people were killed, basically right there in front of me. My brother and myself were the only two who made it out alive. So, this is a definite improvement over where I was just two days ago." She looked back up at him, giving him a slightly strained smile. "I just wish my brother was here, so I would know he's alright." She couldn't help that she worried about her 'baby' brother.

She watched him for a moment before turning her eyes back to the gates. They were really creepy, and she could almost feel that something terrible was going to come through them at some given point and time.

Looking back over at him she nodded. "Oh, I understand." Her brows furrowed for a moment, "Do you want to know what I've learned from hearsay or from the data I've gathered personally? Yes, I wouldn't mind that at all. The more minds we have working on this the better off I think we'll all be." Honestly she hoped that they could figure a way back to their own worlds, but if not then being here shouldn't be so bad. "What does your key read? We can talk, and walk. If you're up for the talking that is." She gave him another smile, glancing back over to the gates for a moment.

Talion blinked, listening quietly. Interplanetary travel, what was she talking about? Traveling from one planet to another... she seemed calm and rational, but he wasn't convinced she was all there. Especially when she she started talking about time. He had no idea what convention she was using, and no way to place that in relevance to his reality. Surely she was mad. But, then again... maybe not. She was very different from him and those he was used to; speech, clothing, hair, everything and much more so than from regional variances he was used to seeing.

And then creatures and monsters. Well, he really couldn't call insanity on that one. He had fought enough people that met that description both physically and mentally. He had seen dark mages twist and contort their bodies into strange beasts and disfigure enemies all the same. Even at that, eighty-five deaths? He had never seen so much carnage at once outside of a full out battle. "Seems you are quite blessed to have survived. I have no doubt your brother is fine having survived the same as you." He tried to offer some measure of comfort and not dwell on the events that clearly troubled her.

"I would know both please. Even fiction is based off some reality." He nodded in agreement to her thoughts and returned the smile. "Yes, please... I've been on the road alone for too long. I could use the conversation, and well... need the conversation if I'm to stay awake for the tour." He held the key up for her to see, all it said was 'Justice' "Suiting enough I suppose, though not very imaginative. And of you? What is it's inscription?"

Dr. Grimm watched him for a moment, letting out a soft sigh. She knew that it was hard to believe, she couldn't believe people from the 'past' showing up here. Then again, things around here weren't what they appeared to be. She supposed that if someone told her that they'd come from the future that she'd be a bit skeptical herself.

She nodded her head, "Yes, very blessed indeed." She smiled softly, "I can only hope that he's alright." She knew John would probably be worried about her, as she was him. But she felt, deep down in her gut, that he was alright. Call it a twin thing.

Nodding once again, her brows furrowed slightly at the inscription of just his name. Pulling her own map out of her back pocket, she opened it, scanning it until she found his room. "Huh, that's interesting." She murmured, "Mine has my full name, and room number on it. That's just odd." She lifted a shoulder, shaking her head and made a mental note of what floor and where his room was located at. She also took note of the oddity on his key. "Alright, let's go then." She started off, shoving her hands back down into her pockets and walked at a slower pace. "Alright, so here's what I know so far. From hearsay, I've heard that beings, gods if you will, have pulled us here. Why? Well if the stories are right, probably for their own amusement. Like they're wanting us to play house, or they're playing a game." She paused for a moment, waiting to see if he had any questions so far. “Either way, it’s not good if it is the ‘gods’ doing this. They’ll test us to our limits, I’m afraid just because they can.” She really didn’t like the thought or the sound of that as it came out of her mouth.

"What I've gathered personally is only a little bit. In Roman Catholic Christianity, purgatory is the condition, process, or place of purification or temporary punishment in which the souls of those who die in a state of grace are made ready for heaven. That is what is on the gates, a symbolic representation of purgatory. But purgatory can also be used in a non-specific sense, meaning any place or condition of suffering or torment that is often just temporary. I think, that's what this means. I could be very wrong, however." She paused once again to see if he had any questions or comments.
