April 17th, The Arrival of Motormouth Maybelle Stubbs
Who?: Motormouth Maybelle and Greeter
What?: Maybelle’s Arrival
When?: April 17th; Early Afternoon
Where?: The Foyer
Rating?: G
Maybelle smiled, warm pride swelling in her chest as she looked over the sound stage of The Corny Collins show. They’d come so far to get this, and now that it was here Maybelle felt like she was in a dream; a dream that someone could wake her up from and rip it all out from underneath her.
Her brows knitted for a moment, and a frown creased the sides of her face. There was no reason to be thinking like that.
“Ten minutes!” One of the stage producers called, and Maybelle watched as Inez and Seaweed exited from the dressing rooms. Walking over to her children she gave Little Inez a hug, and patted Seaweed on the shoulder.
“Now, remember what we talked about, break a leg and I love you two.” She smiled, watching them as they took their places.
“Maybelle!”
She turned, raising a brow at the hurried looking young stylist. “What’s wrong?”
“We need to go fix your wig…” Her eyes went a bit wide as she peered around Maybelle. “But I’ve got to go grab Tracy.” She gave a worried glance back and forth between the two of them.
Maybelle laughed softly, “Go work on Tracy, I’ll fix this myself.” She patted the girl on the back, hearing her let out a sigh of relief before she started back to her own dressing room. She waved, and said hi to a few of the council members as she passed them on her way back. Her dressing room was right next to Corny’s, and had a huge yellow star with her name drawn over the white paint.
The ball had finally started rolling in the right direction.
Maybelle turned her head, looking back over her shoulder at her children who were practicing a few moves on the stage. She smiled, and pushed the door to her room open.
Stepping in she blinked, glancing around at the…foyer of a rather large…
“What the…?” She looked around, hearing metal as it creaked slowly shut and spun around. Behind her was a large fountain, with a large gate that reminded her of something she would see in a church.
“Well, I’ll be.” She placed her hands on her hips, letting out a soft sigh as she shook her head. “Go figure that when things start going good I end up,” She paused, one brow rising as she glanced around, “Wherever I’m at.”
