April 16th Story's Arrival
Who: Story and Open (To a Greeter.)
When: Early Morning
Where: The fountain
What: Arrival
Rating: TBD
Status: In progress

A single final moment together...just one...in the crashing, pouring rain..and Story stepped away from his embrace, the great bird landing silently behind her. The last thing she wanted to see was his face. His smile, straight down to his ever loving heart. Her skinny hands took hold of the feathers, and in a breath, they were gone, soaring into the sky.

Story pressed her forehead into the warm, damp chest...what if she wasn't who they thought she was. What if she had made another awful mistake. What if she wasn't meant to bring hope to anyone. How was she supposed to lead...anyone?

The wings pumped harder, and she was carried higher into the sky, above the clouds, and all at once, there was the sun...bright, orange, rested against a sea of clouds...oh, how beautiful...And then, they dropped down again. Faster, and faster, and faster--the rushing wind drowned out the flapping wings--in a panic, Story only clutched the down tighter. Was this supposed to happen? Was he testing her courage?

Story did not know when the feathers had slipped from her fingers, or how long she had been falling from the sky. It hurt when she hit, her shoulder and side skidding lightly. Disoriented, she only knew it was freezing. She pressed her hand against the ice, and pushed herself up. Frozen water...oh, it hurt. Story scrambled off the ice and over the side of the fountain, panting, panicking, curling into a small ball.

Where had he sent her...? Was she being punished?

"Oh, please, please, don't banish me..."

Legolas was sitting at the desk. He was a little amused because every drawer he opened had a cookie in it. If it didn't have a cookie in it then it had a fish. Or two fish, and if there was a single cookie in a drawer then he had to wonder where the rest of the stockpile was. He wouldn't go hunting for it, already the squirrel had threatened his beautiful fingers with those deadly teeth.

Sighing he pushed closed the bottom drawer, thankful that it was cool enough within the mansion to keep the smell of fish down for quite a while. His eyes went to the gates, smiling as a key appeared. He opened the map drawer and pulled one out, only to drop it on the desk as the female appeared.

She was so frightened. Racing over to her on light feet he dropped down beside her, a hand slowly going to her back as he spoke softly, "Are you alright? Are you hurt?" Legolas tried giving her a warm smile as he knelt closer to her. She was...he couldn't quite place his mind upon what she was. He felt a connection with her though, a connection that he usually only felt with fellow elves. At her words he frowned. How could he explain that she wasn't technically banished? Because from her world this would...this was banishment. Legolas hadn't thought of it that way before.

Talking softly still, he tried to soothe her, "I'm Legolas. You're safe here. No one here will harm you."

Story hadn't heard the voice at first, trying desperately to keep herself from..well, possibly vomiting or hyperventilating. She was still soaking--a blessing in itself--but the cold was making her shiver, violently. Story had little love for the cold...

She felt the hand on her back, and turned her eyes to see a..beautiful man. Well, man only by appearance, really--she felt instantly that this was no man. And only the sight of Cleaveland could make her more relieved...if this was no world of men, then...

"...Story.."

She turned towards him, anguish rising in her throat.

"Am I being punished...?"

Legolas' brows drew together for a moment. Was she wanting him to tell her a story? Was that her name? It would be rather rude to him if that was not her name and she was demanding a story. She was scared though.

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Story. As she shivered Legolas looked around for something to cover her with. Finding nothing he unhooked his cloak, wrapping the warm fabric around her as he spoke.

"No, I don't believe you are. You are being blessed with a new adventure." He gave her a smile, that was how he had to think about it. Maybe this would comfort Story as well. He probably needed to get her to her room as well. "Can you walk?"

As the cloak was placed around her, her arms crossed, reaching up to touch the fabric...It was warm, heavy, and created a warm humidity around the drenched pale shirt.

She had liked him instantly. Not only for his kindness, but the off-set connection between them. Neither a mortal creature...she wondered quietly on who he was. Where he was from. Why he was so kind.

She gave him a light, hopeful smile...Story wasn't one for adventures...though, her first wasn't exactly..a good one. Maybe this one will be...

Walk? She looked down and lightly brushed her shin...only thin, raised scars remained, since...she nodded again.

"...I can walk...where are we going?"

"Good. I think it would be best for you to find your room. There will be comforts there from your home, or where it is you find the most love and comfort." Legolas smiled at her, "Welcome to the mansion."

He stood slowly, holding out his arms for her to grab if she needed them. He would stay close, he knew his place as a protector well because of the hobbits and beings of the woods. Not that hobbits rarely ever needed his help sometimes. "You will find that many here are feeling rather lost. We have been placed here out of our normal homes and wanderings by those that are more powerful than us."

Lifting a shoulder he watched her, "Are you alright?" She seemed so pale and scared, so wet. Was she a child in her world? Part of her felt that way to Legolas, while another part thought her far older than she looked like many of his kindred. Curiosity peeked, but was held at bay yet again. It would be rather rude to start questioning such a meek creature when she was uncomfortable.

Story thankfully took the help, still somewhat shaky on her feet. Standing suddenly made her dizzy, and she chided herself for not moving slower. It had been a somewhat painful last few days...if there was a well of water or pool in whatever room was..given to her...or some manner of bathing room, with running water, she would have no complaints.

"..Mansion.." Large, luxurious houses, those to accommodate the wealthy men and women of their respective worlds. Did this place belong to someone? Was that someone the one who did this? According to gentle Legolas, this was a normal occurrence..people popping in and out. It unnerved her.

At his question, Story briefly looked at him, and then down. If she was not being punished...then..

"...I was..going home..I was able to return, at last.."

Legolas smiled as she finally stood. At least she wasn't hurt bad enough to keep her from doing that. He stayed close, steadying her with an arm around her waist. He felt as if he would break her if he held her too tightly. "Yes, I'll show you around once you feel better, if you wish me to."

He raised a brow slightly, looking over at the desk with her key and map. "I must ask you to either stay here or come with me there. I must give you those items there. One is to keep unwanted things from your room while you are within it's walls or gone from it. The other is to help you keep from getting lost in the many rooms this place has." He studied her for a moment with gentle eyes, "I am sorry that you are not home. Perhaps this place can become a home to you, until you can return. One full of happiness." He gave her a gentle smile.

Story lightly leaned her head on his shoulder. She could smell an ancient earth on him...it made her feel more at home, in a strange way. She lightly eyed the curve of his ear...it made her smile. She liked it.

Unwanted things? Was..this place some sort of danger to her? To anyone? Her brow knitted lightly--Story was never very good with directions. At least there was a map...if she could read it..Story quietly went over the human alphabet in her head, when he spoke again.

She lightly lifted a hand, brushing her fingertips against his cheek. Genuine kindness, undaunted, heartening. Timeless.

"...thank you, Legolas..I will go with you."

The touch to his cheek was very gentle and he smiled as she touched him. This female was so gentle, she amazed him. As she answered him he nodded and kept her close as they made their way to the desk. He made the way slow, his light footsteps barely making a sound on the marble floor.

"I think we will take the elevator. You feel weak, Story. Is there anything I can get you that you need? Food? Water?" His brows drew together as he studied what he could of her. Picking up her key and map he glanced at the key. Her room number shone in the mansion's light and he smiled, "Your room is not far from mine." He motioned in the direction of the elevator, "Ready?"

She watched the floor, the shining marble..it was slick under her feet--freezing, smooth..almost as cold as the ice. His hold kept her warmer, and she leaned into him, ever lightly, appreciating the innocent closeness.

Her eyes lifted again at the mention of water. Her legs were dry already, she could feel it evaporating under his cloak as they walked.

"...Water..."

She eyed the key, and gave him a smile at the mention of her room. Oh, they were nearby...good...

She nodded again, adjusting her hold on his shoulder, draping her arm across his chest to hold on better.

"I will never forget what you have done for me..."

"Alright." Legolas smiled and started them toward the elevator. "I'll get you a bottle of water from the kitchen as soon as I get you settled in your room." He would get her food too. The hobbits had taught him that food seemed to solve everything for other species. Elves...it was song.

Legolas smiled sheepishly, "I am sure that if anyone else had been here they would do the same, Story. There are quite nice people here." He pushed the button on the elevator and waited for the doors to open before guiding her as gently as he could into the box.

She relaxed a little more, and the fatigue started to sink in. Story hadn't slept much for days--they were considerably stressful, after all.

And she felt she could unwind with him...it made her comfortable. She smiled again--at least there were nice people here.

"It does not shadow your kindness, Legolas...or your heart." She stepped into the small space, and gazed upwards. "For it is big..."

What was this, now..?

Had she been talking about his heart or the mansion? Legolas smirked as he watched her look around. "Oh, this is a neat thing. I wish we could have such in the forests at home. Waiting on her to settle a bit, he pushed the floor button.

"Though, it would take away much of the adventure." He murmured as the doors closed. "You will feel a lifting sensation." Legolas shifted his grip around her to take in what the elevator was about to do. He did not want her to fall. She felt so frail against him. "Your room will look much like you want it to I'm sure. Where you think home is." He gave her a smile, "I think the mansion wants us to be comfortable in that at least."
