April 15, Rose Tyler and open
Who?: Rose Tyler and open
What?: Exploring the mansion
When?: April 15th, morning
Where?: Tapestry/Trophy room
Rating?: TBD
Status? incomplete

Since her arrival Rose had found some food as well as her room, and a rough night's sleep. She could not help but think of where she was, and when she did wake up from her three hours of sleep it seemed that the house had...changed. It was no longer decorated as Valentine's day but now as Christmas. Looking out the window there was even snow on the ground. She thought she saw some people playing outside but decided to find out more about where she was. Quietly getting out of bed she began, once again, to explore the mansion.
___________________________________________________

After leaving the ballroom she noticed that the door across the hall was cracked open by a hair. Looking around her she stepped into the room. All around the walls were tapestries and artifacts of various times throughout history. The sword of Napoleon, The paintings of Michaelangelo, and a few things that appeared to be so far in the future that she did not recognize them. She tapped on some of the glass, it seemed to be very strong. This room did not help at all in pinpointing what part of time she was in, at least not a time she recognized. There were some artifacts she recognized after all. Studying the tapestries, depicting wars and celebrations, she decided that she was most definately in the future.

Fred has already been through the entire mansion at least three times if not more. Of course, things seemed to change on a regular basis, but it was never enough to throw her off course. At least, it never intentionally did. She had heard stories of others getting lost as though the mansion was toying with their heads!

Personally, she figured that of course the mansion messing with them. It was Christmas in April after all! The cold weather was doing nothing good for her at all. She was used to California and Texas and Pylea, none of which factored in the idea of snow. The snow was absolutely beautiful, of course, but it was cold and Fred didn’t like the cold.

She was practically pouting as she walked through the somewhat chilly halls. Seemed as though the interior heating wasn’t all that great, though she suspected that the mansion godlike being type of thing could easily fix that if he or she or whatever wanted to! So… maybe the mansion was screwing with her. Just great. Just what she wanted for Christmas!

Her wandering had brought her to the trophy room, a rather beautiful room actually, but usually empty really. So, when she looked up to find another woman there, she was quite surprised. She blinked a few times before letting a squeak worthy, “Oh!”

Giggling slightly at her own surprise, she ventured further into the room, surveying the woman in front of her. “I don’t think I know you,” she pondered aloud. “I’m Fred.”

Rose jumped at Fred's voice, "Oh! I'm Rose, I don't suppose you can help me. This mansion... there's something odd about it."

She watched the girl, who appeared to be about the same age as her. "The squirrel said people... come through the fountain. Do you know how many people are here?" Based on Fred's clothes she wasn't from far in the past or future. She didn't seem to be from any far off planet.

Fred blinked twice at her upon hearing her question. She cocked her head to the side with a small smile. So, this girl was new to the mansion. She understood the woman’s confusion completely then. After all, she had been in the same position a week or so ago. It seemed like ages now. Every time she thought about how long she had been here, though, she always thought of her boys and that always just upset her.

She let out a small puff of her air as she considered how to best answer—Rose. That was what she had said her name was. “This mansion… is really weird. It seems to like to mess with the people inside it, so I’d tell you to be careful, but I don’t think even being careful really gives us a choice in the matter. If the mansion wants to screw with you, I’m going to assume it can do it.”

Venturing further into the room, Fred sent a small smile at the Mona Lisa that was settled on the wall. She held back a shiver as she hugged herself, trying to conserve her body heat a bit better. “I’m not sure if people are coming through the fountain so much, as I know of some who happened to just walk right up to the mansion before realizing the road behind them had turned into ocean! But I’m almost positive that the pull to this mansion is coming from that fountain if nothing else. Everyday, it seems as though the number of people here change. More keep appearing and some disappear and it’s really hard to keep track of them all, in all honesty.” She giggled nervously. “It’s all a little more than I can keep up with.”

"I've seen a lot, but never anything like this." She moved next to Fred and looked at he painting, "so the mansions in control? We don't have a way to get back? I'm really getting tired of this getting stuck places thing."

"Well, thanks for the warning. I suppose that I should look to see who else is here... people wise." After a few quiet moments staring at the smiling woman on the wall Rose tilted her head slightly, "what does she know?"

“Seems so,” Fred murmured at Rose’s question to the mansion being in control. “Either the mansion is in control… or there’s some sort of higher ‘being’ using the mansion to mess with us. If that makes any sense.” She scrunched her nose up in confusion at her statement before shaking her head with a sigh. “Yup. Stuck here like sitting ducks while everybody we left behind worries to death. And I agree; I’m not a big fan of being thrown into random place you can’t exactly leave when you want.”

There was Pylea on her mind again. She had long since gotten over her five-year detainment on the demonic plane, but every now and then the memories would return to haunt her. They were always terrifying and sent her reeling, but they did not affect her as much anymore. But coming here to this mansion had lifted a whole lot of dust off of those memories that she would have rather just left buried in her closet.

Fred smiled again. “Go ahead. People here seem just as lost as the rest of us and… most… of them seem friendly.” She gave another small nervous laugh. “Luckily, it’s pretty easy to tell instantly who’s not as friendly as the rest.”

It was then that Fred also took a moment to stare back up at the Mona Lisa. She tilted her head curiously, her own unreadable smile on her face as she answered, “That’s one of life’s greatest memories, isn’t it?”

The Doctor was walking about. He was roaming about. He pulled out Mister Mouse out of his pocket. “Yeppers, this is the way to travel Mister Mouse!”

The Doctor came in the room with the ladies backs toward him. He was caught by Mona Lisa in the room. He was taken away from Mona Lisa. “It can’t be!” He said to Mona Lisa. “Mister Mouse this is Mona Lisa, a beauty. Lady of the Stars…lady with a smirk on her face. Makes me wonder what’s she thinking? Maybe that’s it! It’s her smirk! Because she knew men will wonder what she is thinking! Booooy I am good! What’s she thinking? Tea? Supper? Is the painter single? Mystery, it drove men wild. That’s how a woman drove a man crazy. Yep, the power of the paint brush and a killing smirk. I just need to learn that smirk. Disarm idiots! Va-boom! Smirk away, save lives!”

Rose froze as she heard a familiar voice, "Fred, you said the house likes to play tricks on people. Do you suppose it can make you think there is someone there who isn't?" Rose closed her eyes and turned to where the voice came "it can't be...it can't be" she whispered to herself. Taking a deep breath she opened her eyes only to be face to face with the Doctor. "It can't be."

"Fred" Rose blindly reached for the woman and tapped her. "Do you see him too? Is he really there?"

Fred had turned toward the voice long before Rose had. She didn’t notice right away the way the woman tensed up at the sound of the voice or way she seemed frozen in place by it. Instead, she was listening to the man’s odd little monologue, a bemused on her own face as he spoke of the Mona Lisa. This man sure was a character!

And then Rose was speaking, sounding quite upset and hopeful at the same time and the connection hit. Fred looked between the man and Rose and back again as she considered the kind of relationship she had. “I see him,” she said encouragingly. “I don’t think the mansion is playing with your mind. Unless it’s trying to trick both of us, but I don’t see what good that would do with me.”

She looked between the man and Rose once again, smiling. Hm. Merry Christmas, after all.

“Merry Christmas,” the Doctor said. “Presents! I so looove presents and this is the best!” he quickly grabbed Rose in a hug. He hugged her. It was a long meaningful hug. “Itssss sooooo greeaaaaat seeing you!”

The Doctor was quick when he caught Fred, he disarm himself from Rose. “Hello, there!” He smiled to her. “I am R0s---nooo---I mean, I am the Doctor and this here is Rose! And Mona Lisa. Mona this is Rose and….Fred? Fred and Rose that’s Lisa…She’s smirking at us!”

“oh, Mister Mouse….Mister Mouse?” He patted himself down. He had a paste look. He looked down. “Mister Mouse?” he got down on his knees. “I lost him!” He sounded sad. “I don’t believe it! He couldn’t wait for the cheese.”

Rose was still frozen as she watched the Doctor look for a... mouse? "Who's Mr. Mouse?" She felt something on her back. She tried to look on her back, chasing herself in circles. "Is that... a mouse?"

She tried to grab the mouse as it climbed up her back and into her hair chasing her back. "Get back here!" she kept yelling at the mouse. By the time the mouse was in her hair she could not figure out where it went. "Where are you?"

The bemused smile that was on her face before had returned with the doctor’s speech once more. She was rather surprised by his rather outrageous personality, which was much to say since Fred had seen many strange personalities in her time. Lorne, alone, was enough to make anybody’s eyebrows rise in surprise, but Lorne was something completely different.

This guy was…

Fred decided not to place the strange doctor with a title and instead just let out a small shocked laugh at his introductions. This was certainly new. And then the mouse. She watched as Rose went in circles looking for the mouse, and Fred continued to watch as the mouse attempted to make a nest in the other woman’s hair. Grinning slightly, she reached over and rescued both the girl and mouse, cupping the sweet little creature in palm.

She held the little mouse out to the doctor. “I believe this little guy belongs to you,” she chirped.

“Aye,” the Doctor winked happily to Fred.

He carefully took the mouse in his hands. He cuddled the mouse and held the mouse in the pawn of his hands. He held the mouse close to his face. “I keep my promises. I will get you the piece of cheese.” The mouse had seemed to listen to the Doctor.

The Doctor placed the mouse in his pocket. “That’s with cheese news.”

“Rose,” he had smiled to her. He was amaze she was standing before him. “I am blown that you’re here,” he took a step forward to her. “I mean its jiffy like he peanut butter!”

“How did you get here?”

Rose couldn't help but giggle, "I could ask you the same question" she began to come out of her stupor thanks to the mouse. "All I know is one minute we are catching a Slitheen, then there was a door... and it led me here. I have been trying to figure out what this place is. Have you found out anything?" A light bulb turned on in her head, "Where is the TARDIS? I'm sure that it has some very curious readings."

In all of her emotion she had forgotten about Fred altogether, maybe she could start traveling with the Doctor again! After they figure out why this place was so...odd.

When Rose asked about the TARDIS she might notice the shift of sadness sink in his dark sad brown eyes. He said quietly, “I wish I knew,” he replied. He had felt a bit off center when he had lost his beloved TARDIS.

Only he could snap his fingers and she would appear for him. He hadn’t tried that. He stood tall, held his hand out, focusing hard on his hands, thinking come TONTO. No. That wasn’t right. He re-focused on the TARDIS. Please, come to me. He allow the thoughts out. He didn’t feel her or worse hear her pulsing.

*SNAP*

He had a disappointed look. His dark brown eyes had scanned the room.

“I seemed to lost her while I was. . . “ he arched an eyebrow. “I don’t remember. I remember the fountain coming right in my face and I was out.”

He hadn’t brought up that he woke blinded. He was scared for his life. He had lost that ability of sight had made him feel vulnerable and he hated that all over things.

He hugged her again. He had to change the feelings. “So, swell and bells are ringing for you to be here. Though, you a victim like everyone else. I don’t like this one bit,” he went from jolly to maniac mad.

"The Doctor without his TARDIS? This place is just cruel." noticing the Doctor's immediate change in tone she realized that this would not be like one of her "normal" adventures.

"Well, why are we here? I mean, out of everyone in all the worlds why the three of us?" Rose was helping that her probing would help spark the Doctor to save the day, as it so often used to.

“There is more,” the Doctor had said seriously to Rose Tyler. “I’m not sure Mister Mouse and his family are from this world too? I never probed into that area.” He pulled out the mouse. “Are you from this world?” The mouse sqeek in its mouse way, the Doctor made an odd face tucking the mouse back in his pocket. “Forgot I don’t understand low intelligence!”

“There is even a demon about here claiming he be doing his dirty work,” the Doctor snapped his fingers and pointed his index finger at Rose. “Stay clear of him. He goes by the name Eclipse. I mean it! Stay away from him!”

"Of course," Rose smirked, knowing that know she would have to meet this "Eclipse". "Anyway, since when can you not understand lower intelligences? There are plenty of idiots that we have encountered. Maybe the TARDIS just doesn't reach this far."

Rose waited a few moments watching the Doctor before she furthered her questions, "So, what have you been up to lately? I mean, before the mansion."

Doctor eyes brows shot up, “Language barrier. We can understand each other meaning!” the Doctor looked excited. “The TARDIS is nearby. I just can’t sense her here.” He had a trouble look.

“Usual, traveling fixing this and that,” he stated. That was a rotten response. The Doctor had lost his memory on how he got here. He remembered he was on the TARDIS and next thing he knew he was here.

“You know,” the Doctor stared at the Mona Lisa for a brief moment. “Mystery, I bet she knows,” he was dead serious. He grinned after a brief second, “Kodak moment! It’s cheese time!”

Rose couldn't help but chuckle, the Doctor hadn't changed. Then again, it hadn't been that long since they had seen each other. "Kodak moments are hard without a camera...You know, this kind of feels like the whole thing with the transmat and the game shows of doom... only... with more people. There must be someone at the bottom of this."

Rose ran out of the room to look for anything suspicious, even though she had spent six months in a new life her life was still full good guys, bad guys, and everything in between. "There must be something causing this. People don't just appear in a mansion without there belongings"

He failed to see it at that point of view as the game show. “You know your brilliant Rose Tyler. And, yes there is a culprit person behind this!”

“Lost luggage department,” he said walking out after her. “Closets could be a great start. Though, what is consider a closet here?” he rubbed the back of his head.

Rose continued walking, she was sure that he could catch up. As she passed any door she would open it and peek inside. After following this pattern with ten doors she finally found a closet.

Opening the door a broom fell on her head and Rose let out a small yelp. "Well, I found a closet... " She immediately began to empty out the closet to make room for her to tear the room apart. . After the hallway was full of some cleaning supplies she walked into the closet and began examining the walls to try to find any technology. "Seems... like there isn't anything here... no surveillance, life support, anything."

“Room for more?” he poked his head as she was poking around. “Looks like a broom closet,” he sniffed the content of the room. “Smells like a broom closet with a Rose Tyler defender of the Earth,” he stuck his tongue out, “the air taste like a broom closet,” he stuck his head in more with his ear, “sounds like a broom closet whatever one sounds like,” and he stepped in the closet, feeling the wall with his hands, “feels like a broom closet wall, and,” than it had gone black. “Who turn out the lights?”

Rose froze in the darkness, "Doctor?" she reached out her hand and found him closer than she expected. "Does this happen often around here? I mean, maybe I pushed something..." Leaving one hand on the Doctor she used the other to probe the walls of the closet.
