Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted? Holy shit...I didn't realize how much I'd done. No wonder I feel so weird when I'm not writing. XD Over 30 pieces, not counting continuations of work I started earlier, or stuff I never got the nerve to post. I'm relatively new to fandom and fic, so I guess this is just the year I hit my stride or something.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2006? Uh, where do I start? RukiaGrimmjow?RukiaUrahara?AnkoIruka?Creepy Unohana+Gin genfic? Pr0ntober in particular really got me writing things I hadn't considered before.
What's your favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest? Oh wow... probably April. (young!YoruichiUrahara) It's challenging to take characters who are normally seen as so capable and level headed and write them younger and foolish while keeping them recognizably themselves--but I'm utterly, utterly in love with this story.
Did you take any writing risks this year? (See above for unexpected pairings, etc.) What did you learn from them? I feel like I did. I guess it taught me that I'm capable of more than I think.
Write more genfic. Write Isshin, period. Write more Naruto. Try writing Avatarfic.
I've also had this idea in my head for an AU where Yoruichi didn't help Urahara escape--where they actually fight after he's captured and wind up killing each other. I touched on the idea a tiny bit in What She Said. I don't know if I can stand to do it, but the idea won't leave me alone.
And maaaaybe...start posting to the fic comms more often. Maybe. I'll have to think about that.
From my past year of writing, what was...
My Favorite Story: THEY'RE ALL MY BABIES HOW CAN YOU ASK ME TO PICK ONE?!?
I guess I'm proudest of the ones I didn't initially think I could write. Love Hurts (ShinjiHiyori), Porcelain (UraharaRukia), Obedience (KougaijiDokugakujiYaone), Untitled AnkoIruka, Locker Room (IchigoTatsuki) and Tradition (Ukitake+Rukia, Shunsui, Nanao) all had me staring at a blank document for quite a while before I managed to come up with anything.
My Best Story: Oh, hell. I don't know. Maybe The Language of Flowers (Yoruichi+Urahara, pretty much gen), because I wrote that in an afternoon, and it didn't need much editing after the first run-through.
Story Most Underappreciated by the Universe: It's hard to say...April, or maybe Esquilax. (RenjiRukia, aka drunk!Rukia)
Most Fun: Tie between Pirate House (Gen, 11th division, ensemble) and The Language of Flowers. I'm a silly child at heart, and can't seem to keep humor out of anything, so my stuff that's all humor really seems to flow from me most easily.
Most Disappointing: Huh...I'd say Shinigrimmy 2. Writing it has been like banging on a sheet of glass; I can see what I want on the other side but I just can't get to it.
Most Sexy: Tie between Porcelain (UraharaRukia) and 9:51 (RoyRiza), neither of which has any actual sex. XD
Story with a Single Sexy Moment: Huh. Audacity (ShunsuiNanao), or maybe Squall. (NarutoSakuraSasuke) Please note my idea of sexy may not be yours. XDD
Once again, neither has any sex. I was pretty pleased with these two, given that they were both the first times I'd written anything for the respective ships.
Hardest to Write: Hah. Once again, April and Shinigrimmy. I know how I want them to be, they're just not quite there yet.
Most Unintentionally Telling: All of them? XDD I don't know...I tend to think my neuroses and complexes are on display whenever I write. But I'll go with April, Distance (RenjiRukia), and probably both RoyRiza fics (From Small Beginnings Rise and 9:51.)
