Not betaed, 713 words.
Inoue Orihime loved her boyfriend very much. He was brave and handsome and smart and kind...and at the moment she wasn't paying attention to a word he said.
She shivered absently and ran a hand up her bare arm, letting her eyes wander once again.
"I--Orihime-san," Uryuu frowned. He stopped on the sidewalk, the summer sun flashing against his glasses. "You should have said that you were cold."
She tilted her head, looking up at him with a puzzled smile. "I'm not cold, Uryuu-kun."
He stopped and took her wrist, rubbing a thumb over her skin. "You don't have to pretend for me. We can go to this exhibit some other time if you're not feeling well."
"I feel fine!" she insisted.
"Orihime-san," Uryuu said, pushing his glasses up with a frown. "It is quite warm out today, and there is no reason but illness for you to be shivering." He put a hand between her shoulders and steered her across the crowded sidewalk to a small cafe.
"But Uryuu-kun..." She sat down at an empty table against the front windows.
"No, you've even got a bit of a flush now. Sit, I'll go get you a drink. We can return home once you've rested."
"I..." Orihime sighed and smoothed her hands against her skirt as he walked away. It was a lovely skirt, long and flowing with adorable little flowers and bees on the fabric. Best of all, her boyfriend had made it himself.
He soon returned with a ginger lemonade for her and an iced coffee for himself. "They didn't have pepper sauce, but I'm not certain you should have any in your condition anyway."
Orihime laid her hand over his as he sat down. "Uryuu-kun," she said gently. "I'm fine. I promise I'm not sick."
His frown relaxed, but didn't disappear, and he kept his eyes on her as she pulled her drink towards herself. "Then what is it?"
She beamed, and reached up to brush a lock of hair out of his face. "Uryuu-kun looks very handsome today." She took a long sip of her lemonade and sighed in satisfaction.
"I--" he cleared his throat. "Orihime-san, are you--" he caught his breath as she slipped her foot from her sandal and ran her toes up the inside of his ankle.
His eyes went wide, darting around the small cafe. "Orihime-san!" he hissed.
She looked mischievous as she ran a finger over the pebbled skin just above his wrist. "Are you cold, Uryuu-kun?"
He tried to give her a sour look, sipping his iced coffee in an attempt to hide the heat rising in his eyes.
Uryuu cleared his throat again. "Ah, the exhibit does run until the end of the month."
Orihime looked dismayed. "But you've been looking forward to this all week! That's why I didn't want to you to notice I wasn't listening!"
"Listening to what?"
"When you were talking earlier, I was looking at your butt. It looks very nice in your new slacks."
Uryuu stared at her, and she added hastily, "Not that it didn't look nice before." He continued to stare at her dumbly as she slid the leg of said slacks up another couple of inches, her toes now brushing his calf.
"These--these aren't new, Orihime-san," he finally said, his voice faint.
Orihime blinked, and her foot stopped moving. "Oh. Well, I guess I just really want to have sex with you then."
Uryuu froze, then picked up his coffee and gulped the rest. "...we should go home."
"Are you should you wouldn't rather go to the--"
"Yes," he growled, sending another pleasant shiver down her spine.
"Wow, we'd better hurry! You usually only sound like that once you're about to--"
Uryuu stood, pulling her to her feet and towing her out the door before she could finish her sentence.
"Uryuu-kun is so shy in public!" She sounded a bit out of breath as she skipped to keep up with him.
"Does that bother you?" Uryuu asked, squeezing her fingers with a slight smile.
"No!" Orihime said firmly, warming as she saw his smile grow.
It might make her selfish, but she thought it was okay just this once...because it meant she was able to keep that part of him all to herself.
