Pretty soon I will be creating user accounts and a couple of characters for each of you, so expect to get login details in an email. (Check your spam folder if you don't see anything, but I think it shouldn't be a problem. If it is, be sure to add the sender address to your contacts so comment notifications don't get filtered out.) Now I'm asking you guys to help me test the shit out of the application while Ross is finishing up the last bits and pieces. Seriously, try to break it. It'd be good if you guys could check out performance across browsers—mainly Firefox, Safari, and Chrome. Send bugs to me and/or Ross (cooperman[at]gmail[dot]com). I don't really care whether the application works right in IE, so if it does, that's a nice bonus! If you typically use IE, stop it. Stop it right now. I can't wait to use Chrome, my lover, for RP now that I won't have to rely on the Firefox LJlogin add-on. ♥
Some notes:
1. You will always need to ask me if you want to create a new canon character. Obviously I will have created everyone's current characters by the time we switch over.
2. Shared character (NPC) creation got even easier. But please don't make a bajillion NPCs just because you can. If you need an NPC for what you know is likely to be a one-off, consider whether one of the existing NPCs will work. There are already many, and they do tricks!
3. All user-editable textareas allow HTML and CSS.
4. Sample URL for linking to a character within an entry/comment:
http://opustworpg.com/~salgantYou don't need to include any diacritical marks that may be in the character nickname (formerly 'username').
Tip for quick existing-userpic downloading:6. Outstanding features include:
Your browser gives you the option of saving an HTML page in total. (See example.) The file type is usually something like "Web Page, complete". Much faster than downloading every pic individually and then re-uploading them using our ~*~shiny new multiple-picture upload tool~*~.
