ROUND ONE DETAILS

The Estate

Located in Sonoma, California, in the heart of wine country, the Fugita home is set back from a quiet street, several blocks from Sonoma Plaza. The climate is warm and sunny, with daytime and evening temperatures that usually differ about thirty degrees (F). Along with the Main House there are plenty of outdoor areas and a poolhouse/garage. Bedrooms are assigned once we have a full cast. Click here for descriptions of common areas and rough floor plans.

The Maid and Butler, as well as perhaps some of the other guests, may be familiar with the apartment in New York City as well. Since 2005, Mr. Fugita has made the Napa estate his main home, however he usually spends approximately four months (cumulatively) in New York, for various board meetings, charities, and holidays. The apartment is a four bedroom triplex on the Upper East Side, and while significantly smaller than the California house, it is just as comfortable, and equally well-appointed. His home in Japan is strictly private, any guests he has entertained there have not stayed in the apartment, which is kept by an elderly widow, Mrs. Sakuriya.

The Host

Hiroshi "Hiro" Fugita
a.k.a. Your Host, a.k.a. The Body. 57, straight, divorced. Major shareholder of Nintendo, owns apartments in Osaka and New York City, and the house in Napa, which sets the scene for our soiree.

Prior to his initial investments in Nintendo, Hiro worked for of one of Japan's largest banks, and very much a global traveler. There are fewer than three dozen countries he hasn't visited and is commonly known to hope to see every country in the world before dying. He enjoys fine wine and food, classical music, opera, and harbors a secret affinity for hot dogs. His ex wife Akira and 22 year old daughter Kanako both live in Tokyo, and while they all get along reasonably well, do not often spend time together. Since his divorce eight years ago, he has been linked to two other women, but has no plans to remarry. He has a large and varied circle of friends and acquaintances and is generally considered to be a gracious, charming, yet impeccably proper gentleman. Many, though not all, of his guests this weekend have been invited for pleasure rather than business.

The Murder

Your long weekend with your Host began on a Friday, with guests arriving at the Estate throughout the day. Dinner was held at six o'clock, and at nine Hiro invited everyone to the Media Room for a private screening of "Julie & Julia" courtesy of a friend, producer Laurence Mark. The movie runs 123 minutes, after which Mr. Fugita bade good evening to his guests with the promise of a winery tour the following afternoon, and retired.

911 Dispatch logs show a telephone call placed from the Estate reporting a dead body at the time of 12:13 a.m. Currently, no other information is being released.
