Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
CHARACTERS: Sam, Emily & Jacob
OPEN OR CLOSED? Closed to anyone who isn't those three.
LOCATION: Sam and Emily's home
ABOUT? Emily and Sam attempting to talk to Jacob and comfort him. (that'll be Emily more than Sam)
RATING: with Jacob the way he is, who knows.. I'll say PG13 for language maybe?

As promised, Sam had done his very best to remove any other members of the pack from their home. It hadn't been too difficult, he had simply told them to get out, and when a couple of them protested loudly he used the threat that Emily had suggested. It worked alarmingly well, the threat of no more muffins seemed to be something that the boys couldn't bear. They'd all trooped out, and they couldn't have looked more bashful if they'd tried. As Sam heard the door slam loudly, no doubt a hostile reaction to Emily's threats, he moved to the kitchen table and cleared up. He wasn't so tidy as Emily, but he deposited plates and glasses into the sink and began to run some water over them before washing them up.

The hour was nearing three and Sam found himself watching the little clock on the wall as he roughly dried dishes with a cloth from the side. He didn't know who'd arrive first, whether it'd be Emily or Jacob, and he just hoped that Jacob wasn't going to be as "flighty" as Emily thought. Flighty meant emotional, emotional could lead to angry and angry meant dangerous. Sam was firm about this, he was never going to let Emily near a werewolf in wolf form again for as long as he lived.

The dishes finished, he sat down, the wooden seat creaking in protest at his tall frame. Arms folded, he looked to the clock once again. One or both of them should be arriving soon.

She arrived nearly exactly on time, but with a few minutes to spare. The silver pick up truck was fairly quiet, but she could guess Sam would probably have heard her. She turned off the engine before opening her door and getting out, going to the back and beginning to untie the tarp protecting the groceries.

'Sam?' she called, still untying the tarp. 'I didn't get eaten today, but could you help with the groceries?' she was sure he would be there, very rare was it that he'd ever break his word, especially since he seemed to have not been all together too happy about the prospect of her going to town alone. She wondered briefly if Jacob had arrived yet, though how he intended on getting to the house without the other boys noticing, she wasn't sure, but leave it up to Jacob, he would find a way.

He stood as soon as he heard her voice, having been too lost in his thoughts to hear the truck, and called back in return. "Coming!" he moved to the door, shutting it a little less forcefully than it had been shut a few minutes beforehand, and he bounded enthusiastically towards her. Before helping with anything, he wrapped one arm around her waist for a half-hug and kissed the top of her head, and then started to pick up the groceries for her.

"Jake's not here yet. How was Forks?" he said, smiling softly, evidently pleased that she'd returned.

She laughed softly at his enthusiasm and hugged him back, managing to kiss him quickly on the cheek before he moved his head back up then grabbing a few bags herself She started to walk to the house.

'Oh, you know, overcast, less than crowded. Nothing new really. You didn't wear a hole in the floor waiting for me did you? the before he had time to answer she added. 'Did the boys go home?' Once inside she put the bags on the counter and started busily putting things away in the fridge and cupboards.

"All gone," he said, helping her by opening another bag and sorting through things. "Your threat worked wonders, though if Paul slams the door one more time he's going to be sorting out a new one," he said, rolling his eyes very slightly to the ceiling.

"The idea of no more muffins scared them off, you cruel girl," he teased her slightly. "Speaking of muffins, did the vampire's girl appreciate them?" he asked, the seriousness creeping back into his tone.

'I've screwed the hinges back in on the door so many times it's a wonder it doesn't do it on it's own.' she said with another laugh as the put milk and eggs in th fridge. 'I told you threatening their food works though. Rule one in shooing off werewolves: threaten not to make them anymore food.; her smile broadened and she bit her lip as if she was trying to avoid laughing at the thought.

'She did, even if she hadn't, Charlie would eat them, he's fond of my baking, remember that time we had pizza at Billys? I brought the cake over, it was when those vampires.. not the Cullens, the other ones were about.' she finished with the last of the groceries then put the bags away under the sink. 'I got those shoes, too. Lets just hope he remembers to take them off this time, theres little to do with shoes once they look like a grenade exploded in them.'

Jacob really couldn't spend much time at home these days. He'd been trapped in there long enough after he was wounded, and it was a more likely place for people to come find him. If not the pack, Bella would come look there anyway. That was even if Cullen let her come down to La Push now.

So he'd spent most of the early afternoon on the beach before he'd realized it was close enough to 3, for him to start towards Emily's. She'd promised him cookies and alone time so there really wasn't much room to argue.

Jacob knew he was being ridiculous wanting to be on his own, when the others wanted to help, but he just wasn't ready for it. But he walked up to the house casually anyway, and knocked once before coming inside the kitchen door. "Hey Emily... hey Sam," Jacob said seeing the both of them. Well, he should have expected Sam too, it was hard to avoid him while seeing Emily too.

Emily was just getting the cookies out of a tin and arranging them on a plate when there was a knock on the door and then Jacob appeared. She smiled at him, walking over with the plate of cookies, offering him one before he decided he wanted to go again - he had a habit of doing that of late. 'Hey stranger,' she said. 'How are you?'

That was the thing she was concerned about, his state of mine. She didn't want him hurting, even if all she could do was give him cookies and talk to him she had to do something. She knew he was a little put off by Sam's presence, but Sam was with Emily almost all the time if he wasn't with the rest of the pack.

Sam gave a half smile and a nod to Jacob before sitting down behind the table. He wasn't so sure of talking to Jacob as Emily seemed to be, especially while he was in this state. Emotionally unbalanced. It didn't appeal to Sam at all. He didn't say anything, and instead he grabbed one of Emily's cookies and munched at it quietly, attempting to be inconspicuous.

"I deserve that I guess," Jacob said about the stranger comment and he gladly took a cookie from the plate. "Thanks Emily," he said before answering her other question.

"Fully recovered at any rate. I knew the healing wouldn't take long," Jacob said, talking about his injuries from the battle with the newborns of course. "Other than that... managing I guess," he said talking about Bella of course. They'd had a rather... interesting conversation in her journal. She certainly knew how to trick him out of not talking to her. And he did promise not to tell anyone, so he'd let Sam know the full details the next time he transformed about these Volutri, since there was the dangerous possibility of them coming here. If they hadn't already.

'Well it certainly didn't stunt your growth - you're still as tall as a house. I really might need to sit on the counter if you keep it up, that or get Sam to play piggy back with me.' she said with a smile before moving to put the plate on the table and sitting on on of the chairs near to Sam, she nearly sat on his lap but didn't want to make Jacob uncomfortable more than possible.

'You have been eating enough, right? I don't have to chase you around the yard with a broom telling you you need to eat well? You're still very welcome to eat here, you know.'

"Emily cooks enough for at least another ten," Sam added, looking up from his cookie and meeting Jacob's eye. He hated to think how difficult things were for him - relationships were difficult things and not everyone could be as happy as he was with Emily, and even that had caused problems with others. "And if you don't want the others around, Emmy's good at threatening them," he suggested, before reaching for another cookie. Damn, they were good.

Jacob tried not to scowl at Sam eating his cookies... because he knew Emily could just make more. He silently took another seat at the table and watched Emily sit near Sam. "Yeah I've been eating. Dad was being a tyrant before I could get out of the house," Jacob informed them.

He gave them both a friendlier smile than usual. He knew they were worried about him. He was jealous... that they were happy together, even despite their circumstances. Really, only Leah could fully appreciate the understanding his situation.

"Did you really have to threaten them, Emily?" Jacob said with a slight laugh. That would have been fun to see.

'I have another batch of those in the tin Jacob, don't worry.' she said when she noticed him eying off Sam. 'I always anticipate for more wolves.' Emily rolled her eyes but her tone made it clear that she was still fond of them.

'I think I promised you fudge and ice cream too, didn't I? Do you want that now?' she asked before hearing the question.

'Oh, I told Sam that if they wouldn't leave to tell them I'd not feed them anymore - it always makes them turn tail and run.'

The corners of Sam's lips curled into a smile as he noted the double-meaning in what Emily said. "Emily's a cruel woman when she needs to be," he joked, though the thought of her being anything but sweet was impossible. "She uses the iron fist - the threat of no muffins, it works on everyone," he said, turning his smile to her.

Jacob smiled quite happily when she mentioned there were more cookies, and about the fudge and ice cream. "You did promise! Yes please, I'm always more hungry when I get here," he said smiling brighter.

"I was already telling her earlier she was evil. Tempting me out with cookies," Jacob said looking Sam. "Evil in a good way of course," he added so there was no offense.

'I think the phrase was evil temptress' she said, ruffling his hair as she stood and went to get the fudge and home made ice cream out. 'Sam, do you want some too?' she asked as she fished around in the cutlery drawer for the ice cream scoop then got bowls out of the cupboard, sitting them on the bench.

Sam chuckled softly as he moved to help Emily, a simple nod affirming that yes, he would very much like ice cream. "You know no one could ever say no to you," he teased her, "Your bribes are better than money."

Jacob laughed when Emily ruffled his hair. He was feeling better anyway, with the food and not having to dwell on his own thoughts. "Something to that affect," he said.

Jake reached for another cookie while he watched the other two with the ice cream. He didn't know how long he'd stick around. He was fine for the moment, being in their company, but he didn't know how much longer that would last.

'No one refuses because the way to a man really is his stomach' she teased 'and theres more boys in this house than I ever thought humanly possible sometimes. Especially with the size of you boys, we'll need to take out a wall if the numbers go up anymore.' she shook her head, amused. Her tone of voice held that fondness that comes only with the closest of friends and with family.

She put fudge and ice cream in three bowls easily, giving one to Sam, her hand brushing his softly and she smiled a little more before putting away the food and putting the scoop in the sink, then going back to the table and handing one to Jacob.
