CHARACTERS: Rachel Black and Jacob Black
OPEN OR CLOSED? Closed
LOCATION: Black house
ABOUT? Rachel comes home and finds her brother in the house.
RATING: Probably PG-13



To say the least Rachel Black was nervous. She nearly turned around three times on her drive back to the house she grew up in. Her old Black VW bug that she saved money for and bought from a rich frat guy that gave her too nice of a deal her first year at Washington State. Finally making it down the road towards the house... It felt weird being home, it felt weird but right at the same time. Parking by the garage she wasn't sure if she should check the house first or the garage. She looked at her back seat with a few more bags than she needed. Honestly she wasn't sure what was going to happen.

Her hair was down, straight, the leather jacket her father had given her just as she left for school was left unzipped. A dark green tank top and jeans was what she'd been in for the past two days. She took the long and slowest way possible to get home... Along with a few different stops.

As she got out of her car shutting the door she took a bet on the garage. She wasn't really ready to see her father. Her brother was going to be a lot easier to deal with. She was really worried about him... She was always really worried about him.

As she headed into the garage she stopped knocking on the wall as she could see only the legs of her little brother. "Guess who's home." She said with a semi nervous look on her face.

Even if Jacob had gone to see Emily and Sam, he still wasn't ready to go back into the full show yet. He hadn't seen Quil and Embry in days, his best friends thankfully staying away. But Jacob had decided he was well enough to fix up his Volkswaggan Rabbit. He'd thought he'd heard some strange the noise the last time he'd been driving it... and it gave him something to do.

He wasn't paying much attention to anything else while he was under the car, when he heard a familar voice calling to him and a knock. "Huh?" he said lifting his head on instinct banging it, swearing a little. Oh well... no permanent damage.

Jacob pushed himself from underneath the car and gave a wide grin as he looked at one of his older sisters standing at the door. "Rachel!" he said surprised and stood up quickly, striding over to hug her. Of course... careful not to crush her. "I got your package this morning." he said after pulling back.

"What did you do! Eat the whole house?" She asked laughing as she wrapped her arms around him hugging her little... but oddly large brother. She had a three years longer view of Jacob... But this was still a lot of growth for the kid brother.

"I knew it'd take some time.. I sort of sent it slow." She said smiling at her younger brother as she moved to take a step back and look at him. "How are you? What the hell has been going on here?" She said tilting her head to the left with a very questioning and demanding look. It was the same look she gave him when they were younger that basically was her telling she would force him to tell her everything whether he liked it or not.

"Right... last time you saw me I was almost as short as you," Jacob said teasing, but he was remembering that his sister's had no idea what had been going on in La Push while they were gone. Dad had decided it was for the best, so they wouldn't be worrying about them more than usual.

"Thanks for the sweater and the shirt, you guess the size at least," Jacob said laughing, since he was glad that he actually fit into his sister's gifts.

"I'm good, could be better, but I'll get to that... you know after I tell you everything. Dad will freak when sees you. He really misses you and Rebecca, but he has been really good. Harry Clearwater died though, so that's been a bit hard on him," Jacob said nodding and gave a grimace. "Are you sure you want to hear everything or would you rather wait for Dad?"

Rachel reached up and hit his arm, he'd gotten a lot stronger too, "Ouch! What have you been doing? Working out every day?" She asked play glaring at him.

"I should have sent them ages ago." A hint of a guilty feeling crossing her face and voice.

"Tell me already..." She paused.. "Harry Clearwater died? Why didn't you call me... I would have come back." She said simply slightly annoyed. She really would have come back.

"No tell me now. Dad will have to deal with me knowing." She answered sort of annoyed that she didn't know about Harry... She was sort of hurt by it.

Jacob didn't even flinch when she hit him, because he was really more worried if she hurt he hand or not. "Not exactly..." he said even if she was only teasing.

"He didn't want to interrupt your studies I guess," Jacob said shrugging. Jacob didn't know his Dad that well. "You better sit down for this, because you're probably not even going to believe me at first," Jacob said moving back looking around for somewhere for Rachel to sit in his garage. He remained standing himself.

"Alright... now you're going to have to trust me on this. You know the legends about the cold ones, and the wolf men? They're all true," he started, knowing he sounded ridiculous but he remembered trying to come to grips with it himself. "You wouldn't know the Cullens, the moved here when you went to school. They are actually the cold ones from those stories about Ephraim Black, and the treaty is real, they aren't allowed near La Push," Jacob said. "And then, something weird happened. It started with Sam Uley, and gradually a bunch of us caught up. Those all descendants of the 'original pack'," he said trying to make sense. "Basically... once the cold ones came around again, we started turning into wolves, and formed a new pack. There are ten of us now."

Rachel smiled at him basically to tell him to stop worrying. Honestly he blamed herself for Jacob worrying so much.

"Well he should have. Family is more important than school and sororities." Honestly she wasn't sure she'd really told her brother and father about Kappa. "I'm okay standing." She said honestly. Rachel wasn't the best with being told she could sit down. Dealing with things standing up was better for her personally.

As her little brother started to talk she just nodded. They were the stories she'd forced her father to tell her over and over again when she couldn't sleep. They were the things she really needed to hear to let her calm down.

"The Cullens?" She muttered softly looking up at him feeling oddly small. "Sam?" She muttered again. Of course she knew Sam... Hadn't talked to him in ages, but that wasn't the point. "Wait." She paused thinking for a second.

"Are you telling me you are part of this pack? Ten of you?" She asked a little bit light headed and more worried about her brother than anything else. It took her a moment but she nodded trying to bring light to the situation. "That'll teach you to second guess things finally." She teased him with a soft but confused smile.

She sighed slightly nodding to get out of the garage. "You'll have to walk with me and explain everything." She said softly with a warm smile. So she got the basics... She was in shock true, but Rachel always wanted to just move forward and right now she had to move forward. She'd tell him in time the reason she really came home.

Jacob grinned when she asked about him. "Yeah I am too. Second in command actually," he said. It was something to brag about now, but at the time he hadn't actually been so grateful about all of it. Now he just couldn't change it.

He rolled his eyes at the tease. He lead the way out of the garage, and went into the situation about the Cullens, and a bit reluctantly went into everything about Bella. That did all happen at the same time as most of the transformations, and did explain the battle with the newborns that didn't happen long ago now. "Not one got hurt anyway... except me. But you can see I'm better now!" Jacob said trying to make light of that before his sister could reproach him. "Leah would have gotten hurt otherwise."

Part of Rachel wanted to tell him to not brag she would love to hit him over the head, but at the moment she was pretty sure that wouldn't go over well at all. After all he was all big and strong and she was still as small as she was when she was 15. Not much had really changed. Sure she looked a little bit older, but not as much as she wished she did. She didn't look close to 21...

"YOU WHAT?!" She screamed at him basically. "AND NO ONE TOLD ME! " She was still screaming, or yelling or a mix of both. She was working on dealing with everything else and this Bella girl... She'd be really happy to punch the little idiot. Honestly she sounded pretty pointless at the moment. Her brother deserved so much better. He was so much better... but the getting hurt part.

"How could you and Dad not call me and tell me about it! I can't believe you both." She snapped at him crossing her arms. Rachel was angry about. She was angry that no one thought to tell her. Sure she'd left and maybe it was her fault... But she wanted to know she'd always been really protective of her family. Which if she took a moment to think about was probably why they didn't tell her.... They knew she'd come straight home.

"So this Bella girl?" She tried to change the subject but she was to mad to fully change it.

Jacob cringed when Rachel started yelling. That wasn't a good sign... and poor Dad would probably get this wraith later too.

"I was healed in no time Rachel! I can fix myself up quite easily. It wouldn't have done you any good for us just to call and worry you! By the time you'd have gotten here I'd be better," Jacob tried to explain, but she would probably just yell at him some more. Where was Billy to take some of this attack?

When she'd brought up Bella his sullen attitude of later started to return. "She was one of my best friends. I'm in love with her. She picked a leech over me. There is nothing else to talk about," he said firmly, matching her own stance and crossed his arms.

"I don't care. One of you should have thought to tell me or Rebecca. I can't believe none of you told us." She glared at him rather intently for a few moments, "You are a little jerk." She said smiling though. Alright her brother wasn't really a jerk but she was going to call him one for not telling her he'd been seriously hurt.

It took her a minute to really put the pieces together with Bell Swan she was too worried about her brother being physically okay that she didn't really catch on to what he was saying and who he was talking about.

"Wait the same Bella Swan that Rebecca and I had 'play dates' with when she was here for a month or so?" She asked shaking her head. Rachel never had a problem with her, but at the moment she was about to have a big problem with her. "There is a lot to talk about." She insisted shaking her head slightly. "You're sulking." She said simply gathering his crossed arms and the change in his attitude. "Jake, you deserve better." Holding up a hand to try and get him not to talk yet. "Don't tell me she's the best thing in the world or any of that crap. You deserve someone who loves you fully too." She said softly before shrugging slightly.

"Now, are you going to mop around forever or are you going to take me around. Something around here had to have changed... Well other than the wolf stuff." She added still unsure what to think about it all. It made sense. She wasn't as surprised that her pull to come home had become so strong lately.

Jacob just rolled his eyes again at Rachel's ranting. There would be no convincing her otherwise, and she would just continue to remind him and dad about her displeasure in this situation.

"Yeah the same Bella Swan. She moved in with Charlie like a year ago now," Jacob explained, knowing now that his sister would remember her. "I'm not sulking!" he said, even if it was a lie. He really didn't feel like going into it again. He'd hashed it out so many times, and he could tell his sister later. All about how Bella really did love him, just not enough. Not when she wanted to marry the leech and let herself get killed!

"Fine, I'll take you around," Jacob said standing up again. He couldn't let himself get into a worse mood anyway. He'd taken too many shifts lately, and he'd never be able to forgive himself if he'd transform and hurt his sister.

Rachel sighed slightly thinking about it all for a moment. It was sort of a lot to take in and deal with, but she just wanted to help her brother move on. She'd have to talk to their father about it to get more about it. Probably talk to Sam and Emily too. She should probably see how Leah was doing too. It was all really confusing if anyone had anything to say about it.

Rachel nodded not letting him go on about it. "And you are sulking don't pretend you aren't. It'll just take more time to move on." She said very simply to him. She wasn't going to let him forget about it all... She just wanted him to move on and be the happy little brother she knew and loved.

"You don't have to sound so excited about it." She teased. "Gosh had I known you'd be so excited to see me maybe I would have just stayed at school." She wouldn't have stayed, she couldn't stay. She was feeling a little bit too weird to actually not come home. But she'd talk to their father first before admitting to the real reason she came home.

Jacob felt like scowling at her again, but this complete turn around was not doing either of them any good. He simply didn't want to talk about it, or think about what she missed. And he wasn't even sure if he wanted to move on yet.

"I am excited you're home!" he said at her tease. "You just asked the wrong kind of questions," Jake said sticking his tongue out at her for a second, at least his good mood was coming back. "Where do you want to go anyway?"

"How can they be wrong questions when I don't know everything that's been going on? You know I'll get it out of your or Dad." She said smiling at him. Although honestly she was just really worried about him.

"What's changed? You've got to fill me in on this." She said laughing slightly before grabbing onto his arm. "Really, you got too big. I liked my younger brother being I don't know not twice the size of me!" She told him laughing.

"Come on something around here has to be fun to show me!" She said laughing slightly. "Did you ever finish that car I heard about I think once from someone else other than you or dad?"

"Right, use ignorance as an excuse why don't you," he said sarcastically but it was teasing of course. It would be interesting to see the look on Billy's face when he saw Rachel.

"It's a werewolf thing, I couldn't help it," he said when she accused him of being too big. Wasn't his fault he had certain ancestors.

"Hey the Rabbit is a classic! And it's been done for awhile now, Dad got me the rest of the parts. I was fixing it in the garage when you came in, but I suppose you didn't notice," Jacob explained, brightened by the change to the cars. His eyes did light up when he realized there was something new to show her. "But that's not all I have now. Do you want to see my motorcycle?"

"I am going to use it as long as I possibly can." She said honestly laughing slightly. She really did love giving him a hard time. She actually did miss her brother more than she realized.

"Right, a werewolf thing." She said still trying to not think about it but think about it as much as possible. She had a lot of questions but they were for her mind not everyone else's for the moment being.

"I never said it wasn't. And I was more interested in actually seeing my family, not my families cars!" She said laughing before blinking pausing for a moment.

"WHAT?" She snapped. "A motercycle those things aren't safe, you could really hurt yourself Jacob.... and don't give me something about being a werewolf I don't care." She sighed slightly. "Fine I'll come see it, but I better be allowed to ride it." Yes that was a completely crazy and a different turn... But hey Rachel started to do more fun things in life.

"You would," he said trying to keep himself from smiling, at his sister giving him a hard time. It was difficult to keep up, when he couldn't help being happy to see her.

"You're going to have to get used to that you know," he reminded her. Though... it took him awhile to get used to it himself.

Jacob couldn't help but laugh at his sister's reaction. She was upset about him getting hurt, took the werewolf thing in stride, and was upset about a motorcycle?

"Well... I did actually get it before the whole werewolf thing. Got it for free too. Just had to fix it myself," Jacob said not continuing on about how Bella had one too. "Of course you can ride it, just don't tell dad I let you," he said matter of factly.

"Of course." Shrugging slightly she was actually excited about it. She didn't mind doing what she had to do it, to get to know everything she wanted to know.

"Yea, well it's been what 20 minutes. Give me at least an hour. Patients." She teaed with a play glare at him. It was still sort of odd being home, but she didn't mind as much as she thought she would. But it was also only the first few moments really...

"For free? who gave you a bike for free?" It was a completely fair question who just gave someone a bike? That was just weird! Really weird....

"I don't think Dad really worries about what I do as much anymore. I sort of haven't been here for three yours. Maybe he'll realize that he has no idea what I've been doing, he can't get mad that you let me ride your bike. Besides for all he knows I bullied you into it."

"You know I was always impatient," Jacob said grinning as he lead her back to the garage. He had the motorcycle under a tarp now, since he hadn't exactly had the time to ride it lately. He wasn't in the mood for it now either, just to show it to Rachel.

"Well... it was free to the person who brought it to me. There were two, I got to keep one after fixing them both back to working order," Jacob explained trying to avoid who gave it to him. But Rachel would be suspicious and ask again... "It was Bella."

"Yea, you should have taken patient classes or something." She said laughing as she let her brother lead her to the garage. Rachel looked around the place, it was hard not to smile and remember a lot of odd times in the garage. It was nice though, to be back and actually think about some of those things.

"Bella." She said nodding and sort of figuring that Bella had caused a lot more problems than anything else. How could someone be so selfish? She wasn't going to voice that to her brother. "It's a nice bike though! Too bad it wont stop raining aye?" she said with a smirk.

"If there was such a thing, they would never work," Jacob said laughing at his sister's remark. "You'll just have to take me as I am," he said.

He moved his hand over the handle bars and smirked. "It's really not bad. May not have been expensive, but it's an awesome ride," he said and frowned a bit. "Well... I can run faster than in it transformed, but it's fast for a normal human pace," he explained. He rolled his eyes. "When is it not raining here?"

"I guess I do." She said rolling her eyes as if it were a huge pain to deal with him how he was. Which it wasn't but she liked to tease.

"Show off." She glared at him finding a can of water just behind her. Without even thinking she tossed the water at him. Not that it mattered they were walking in the rain earlier... But still he had to do something!

"Am not...HEY!" Jacob said but by the time he turned to look at Rachel again he only just managed to notice she was tossing the water at him. "Now you're going to get it!" he said with a wide grin, as he practically lunged to run after her.

Rachel nearly yelped slightly as he came flying at her, but it was all just laughing. She tried to dodge him but she was pretty sure she didn't have anywhere to go. Instead she looked around for anything else she could throw at him, something soft. She didn't want to hurt her brother... Even if he was all strong and non-humanesk now. She just didn't want to hurt him!
