[thread] - tommy jacobsen & wyatt brady
Characters: [info]thomasj & [info]wyattbrady
Setting: Their apartment, evening time
Summary: Hangin at the mancave bein bros on the most solemn day of the year
Rating: TBD

"Wyatt, I'm hungry," Tommy called from the living room. Honestly, who ever decided that Yom Kippur should be a fasting day? If only Tommy weren't the actual religious type. But he really was a good little Jewish boy, who went to service properly and kept kosher as best he could and fasted when he was supposed to fast. He had eaten properly with his surrogate family earlier in the day after the 'Altar Boyz' matinee performance, but now that it was past sunset, and as Tommy was a growing boy (and a boy who had put on a little weight lately - not that he was worried about it because it wasn't a huge amount or anything...) he was feeling pretty hungry. But the fast was meant to remind them of their need for atonement, and he really did believe it was important.

"Also, I'm kinda bored! Let's do something," he added, as he flipped on the television and surfed for something even remotely interesting. Sunday night television wasn't exactly the greatest font of entertainment anymore. He'd thought about taking a long shower and having a wank (two failsafe boredom cures), but neither of those things were acceptable until tomorrow after sunset. Honestly, sometimes it really sucked to be a good Jew. "Dude seriously, let's do something fun!"

Wyatt was...generally a good Jewish boy. He might not always follow the rules to the T, but really, it was so hard to do these days. He hadn't really been raised to be completely engrossed in his religion. Still, on the holy days, he did make sure to follow the rules and do as he should. Even if it meant cutting out things that had become basic necessities in daily life. Showering and eating, mostly. He'd made sure to eat a decent meal for lunch, but his body clock was still going to tell him that he was hungry, he knew.

He was sitting at the kitchen table, going over the sale papers (he needed a new iPod, what?) when Tommy spoke up. Turning and leaning his arm on the back of the chair, he glanced over at where his roommate had settled on the couch, flipping through channels. "I can't do anything about that, sorry. And you're always bored, aren't you?"

Tommy smirked at his roomie. "I'm not always bored. Just sometimes. Specifically when there's nothing on TV, and my super cool roommate is pretending to be busy with other things instead of chillin with meeeee." He sing-songed the last, hoping that if he were more annoying, Wyatt would pay more attention to him. Sometimes he could be quite the little kid ... or little girl, even. He could whine with the best of them. Although it probably had a little something to do with his hunger. He could get a bit cranky when all he could really think about was how much he wanted to chomp something.

Laying his head back on the couch back for a moment, he then flung himself up again, shut off the television, and walked into the kitchen. "We could play Monopoly ... you could be the banker," he offered, as he pulled out a chair and sat down across from the man.

Wyatt smirked, glancing back at his papers. He picked up a random one and held it up. "I'll have you know that these are very important. I just might need a," he glanced at the paper. Hardware store. Um... "I might need a three-speed power drill one day. And it's on sale now. If I hadn't found this paper, I could be paying $20 more." Yes, Tommy could be quite the little girl. Wyatt had learned this in the short time they'd been rooming together. Sometimes it was amusing. Other times...well, Wyatt had retreated into his room more than once.

He turned back to the table, straightening up the papers with the intent of throwing them into the recycle bin; no good deals on iPods this week. Which was a sad thing. He had just turned to toss them in the bin when Tommy flopped down in the chair across from him. "Monopoly?" he said with a smirk. "I haven't played that in forever."

Tommy grinned, realizing he'd found an in. His ticket to a boredom-less night had clearly arrived. Although really, who didn't like Monopoly? Who didn't like playing a game that capitalized on a person's innate desire to be a greedy, self-serving beast? "Monopoly is the king of all board games ... and I even have two different versions we can choose from. It'll be awesome," he said, putting his elbows on the table and cradling his chin in his hands. "I'll even let you win ... maybe. I mean, I'll probably not let you win, but I'll pretend that you're winning for some of it, possibly. To make you feel good about being a sad, pathetic loser of Monopoly." Tommy then laughed to himself. Clearly, the lack of food was making him delusional. Or just more annoying than he usually was.

Sorry, late! But you still love me.

Who didn't like board games? Really. You could make them last as long as you wanted, or bend rules to speed things up. And a game like Monopoly always had the potential to be a really long game. Therefore the boredom that plagued both men? Would be defeated in one triumphant circle of the board. Take that, fiend.

Wyatt leaned back in his chair, amused at Tommy's enthusiasm. It had certainly taken some getting used to (and really, he was still getting used to it), but it was nice to have someone else in the apartment. Especially someone who was so gung-ho over things. "Which versions? And yeaaah. You do that. While you think you're letting me win, I'll actually be winning. So it's a double-illusion."
