Just as you approach the darkest point in your life, you mysteriously receive a one way ticket with the promise of a better life. However, once you've redeemed your ticket, there is no turning back. Some find comfort in their new home, while others are desperate to leave. A revolution is in the works, what side will you take?

So does this mean we get the option to skip the next winter? Only fair, as far as I can see. One of you energetic bureaucratic types ought to go nuts documenting the snow and everything else just so we can present it to the ruler, or whoever the weather wizard is, like a get out of jail free card when December comes around again. The only downside I can see is that we'll have to get all of our snow skitching out of the way before this snow melts.

PSA

What he says: "You know, Jaybird, we're totally drift compatible."

What you think he means: We've been best friends for years. Worked together for years. We know everything there is to know about each other. We've been there for each other again and again. Some married couples aren't as close as we are. Isn't it great?

What he probably actually means: I want to build a giant robot.

It's that festive time of year again folks and we should all keep it in mind to try to be safe. The lights and cozy sweaters and old Christmas songs on the radio can get into your head lead you to making some bad decisions that can haunt you for the rest of your life. So this holiday season let's all remember the most important lesson of all:

It doesn't matter if you mix in a whole bottle of Southern Comfort, eggnog is never an acceptable thing to drink.

Anyone else looking forward to Christmas?

[Public to everyone old enough to know Santa exists]

So seeing as Christmas is just around the corner, I've organised a little something at my library for the kids. The library is already getting a bit of a makeover, with trees being put up and decorations and all that, I've got the Christmas stories more prominently displayed, and as Christmas gets closer I'm going to be dressing up as Santa and reading to the kids, because there are some kids here that don't have their parents which is pretty bad. And there are also kids here that do have their families here but I just thought it'd be nicer for them.

So Santa will be coming to the library to read to the kids and hand out gifts. I'm going to be randomly choosing children's books that they miss from home, nothing bigger than that. I know words, I know books, so it shouldn't be hard.

I just thought it'd be a nice thing to do for kids who are missing their families and something for kids in general to have to celebrate Christmas a bit better. I used to do this sort of thing at hospitals, but since we don't really have that kind of thing here (which I'm glad about don't get me wrong) I just want to make sure that they know Santa can come to Preya, too.

Let me know if anyone wants to collaborate with me on this, I'd really love to make this as magical as possible. Pun slightly intended.

I've volunteered to work this Halloween with the promise of the day after off. So, hopefully, I'll be pleasantly surprised with only a handful of skinned knees and twisted ankles.

Now all I need is a proper mulled cider. Anyone know a spot selling, hot preferred? Or another suggestion entirely.

Half-priced drinks are lies. I don't really know why people go for the half-priced drinks when thre is half the alcohol and that is the watered down story. Pay full price, get the full package. I'd be good at sales. You're welcome.

Also, don't eat the goldfish in the tank. I swear, this guy tried to fish through the tank on some drunk dare. A - it's gross. B - it smells. C - just don't.

Having just completed the acclimation course at the Abacus Institute (the instructors, such mythic patience), I can safely say I have not felt so inept in almost one hundr decades quite some time. I feel rather prepared, now, to meet this brave new world. Though, is there anything so banal as clacking away at these keys to communicate? At least a letter imbues the personality of one's penmanship. I do prefer the megascopes here for communication, such as they are without any complex incantations, though there is hardly anything mega about them as the case may be with these small screens.

Upon the subject, I'm told there are some rather adroit enchantresses in Preya. Splendid, I would like to make your acquaintance. It is wonderful to learn that I am not the first to eschew complexity in favor of greener pastures.

Yennefer of Vengerberg. A pleasure.

I need to get out more. I mean really, this work-home-sleep cycle is becoming a problem. So. I'm quitting my job. And I'm gonna try something new. I don't know what yet, but I'm gonna figure it out. Maybe I'll try taking some classes or something.

Hey. So, um. Are we going to talk about Halloween? I mean it's cool if you don't want to but like I keep seeing you around here and there and I guess I just... wondered how you were holding up.

There's a new nurse on nights this week and he's quite strange. He keeps singing to the patients and generally being loud. I'm not sure he's realized they're supposed to be resting if possible. I was only in the wing for a half hour to sign off on some medication changes and he didn't shut up the entire time.

A strange fellow.

In other news, I'm John, and I've just gotten myself to what I feel is properly settled in. Best places for takeaway? Anywhere to avoid? I'm in Ravenmoore. I suppose any advice for a newcomer would be appreciated.

Everything is lovely and very relaxing here, but I really need the sort of thing that gets the adrenaline going. Is skydiving a thing here? Or does anyone have any suggestions?

Hey, we've got some Basset hound puppies that are up for adoption. I think one'd be a good fit for your needs, if you want to come by.

There are many many things to learn in Summerbridge.

I am going to learn how to make beer! It is a useful skill.

Very soon, my lovely theaters will be holding a Mega Movie Event. All three locations will have a day where the Lord of the Rings trilogy will be played with accompanying meals and drinks. There will be door prizes and a pub quiz at each location as well. Tickets go on sale next week. The Hobbit movies will not be included in this as we don't want to kill anyone by making them live in the theaters.

The full moon is tomorrow. Fucking fuck.

    [John Watson]

The marathon will be in two weeks time. I hope that's not too soon to be commissioning the trivia.

You: Self-respecting patron of strong drink. Ruthless card player. Great chest hair (literally or in spirit). Dog person. Seeking a bar that doesn't smell like the Kingsby Tavern piss and broken dreams.

Me: Humble business owner. Very responsible. Straight from Ye Olden Days. Prepared to drink anyone under the table and lose. Did nothing wrong, ever, in my life.

GOOD NEWS! THE GREEN DRAGON IS UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT.
It's down the road from the Tavern-That-Must-Not-Be-Named in Everdale. Free shot for anyone stopping in from out of town — or free coffee, if that's more your thing. Come for the music! Come for the cards! Or, you know, come for the mabari war hound. He likes making new friends.

I must say, the constabulary out here in Everdale are wonderfully considerate and have such a regard for the well-being of the population. I'm quite impressed. It does help one to feel safe, after all the unpleasantness.

Hi, I'm Rose and I'm an alcoholic I work at the animal shelter in Summerbridge. Any interest in us bringing some of our animals out to Ravenmoore?

We don't have any proper therapy animals, but we do have some easy-going ones that could use the extra love and socialization, and I'm thinking they're not the only ones. We could set up in a park and if you need a bit of a pick-me-up, you could stop by during the day. Sound good to anyone?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good bookshop? Preferably in Ravenmoore, but as I left the bulk of my considerably large library back home where I came from, I am willing for a bit of a jaunt. I am in desperate need of a little literary companionship. My television and I need a break from one another. It's not you, it's me.
