| Atlanta didn't have a lot of romantic locations. He would have liked to have done this on the beach where he'd first kissed her, but when you were 16, you couldn't exactly rush off to a beach that was several hours away. This would simply have to do in a pinch. Danny knew Bethany wouldn't exactly be surprised by what he intended to do today. They'd already discussed the subject, after all, and started making plans. He wanted to do it right, though. Even though she'd already agreed, he wanted to ask her properly. He might be skipping that whole asking her daddy for her hand thing, which he felt bad enough about, but he wasn't going to mess up asking her to be his wife. He was nervous as hell, even though he knew how she would answer. He just didn't want to screw this up. After all, he only intended to ask this question once in his life. He wanted to make it perfect. They'd spent the last few hours walking around the garden and enjoying the scenery following a picnic lunch. Danny's hand was in hers as they walked and as they reached a more secluded spot, he halted, pulling her to a stop with him. "I love you more than anything in this world," he told her. His hand brushed over her cheek as he gazed adoringly into her eyes. "I've loved you since we were children, even if I didn't realize what that meant until the past year. You make me happier than I ever dreamed possible. You complete me in every way." He took a deep, calming breath before letting go of her hand and dropping to one knee. Pulling the small box from his pocket, he fumbled with it for a second before he finally managed to open it to reveal the ring he'd chosen for her. "I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Bethany Martin, will you marry me?" |
