He knew she was coming to town. Belinda told him after all. It still didn't prepare him for seeing her. He had been able to never be in the same place as her since practically the divorce. With everything they had said to one another, Dex didn't want to talk to her. And he was certain the feeling was mutual. Dexter stopped dead in his tracks when his eyes focused on Destiny. He tried to quickly dismiss the thoughts of how sexy she looked in that outfit. How that dress hugged the contours of her body perfectly. The fact that those glasses made her look like a sexy librarian. He lingered too long looking at her, haunted by memories of when they were together. Just as he was about to turn to disappear in the opposite direction, she caught his gaze. With an awkward wave, he started towards her. There was nothing else he could do. He supposed he could be an adult about it. It was a long time ago now. "Hey. Long time no see," he greeted, with a stiff nod. Dex wasn't sure how to greet her now. Honestly some part of him still harbored that anger even though he lost sight of why he was angry now. Destiny had known her luck couldn’t last. Honestly she’d been surprised it had lasted this long. She and Dex had managed to avoid seeing each other for the past two years, something that had been helped along by the fact that they were rarely in the same state. She’d thought about getting back in her car when she’d seen him and going back to the hotel and ordering something from room service and then she saw that awkward wave and he was coming towards her. She’d thought she was on her way to fully being over him but judging by the way her heart started racing as he got nearer she wasn’t. He still looked mostly the same, a little older of course but the same handsome features and trim build that she remembered. She paused with her hand on the door and licked her lips without realizing she was doing it until after the fact. She wasn’t sure how to act around him with the things they’d both said and done at the end of their marriage but he seemed to want to keep things...distant and she thought that was probably for the best. “Hey Dex,” she told him her free hand going to fiddle with the necklace she’d thrown on to complete her outfit. “How have you been?” she asked him, mentally kicking herself for asking such a stupid question. |
