Dean would have been lying if he'd claimed to not be curious and a little worried about the night ahead of him. Sure Emily was one of his oldest friends but she was also the only girl he'd ever seriously dated and their choice in colleges had been the reason they'd broken up. He didn't regret it exactly but a part of him had always wished he'd made a different choice back then. He'd cared about the girls he'd dated since her and he cared about Ing in a way he couldn't quite figure out but not as much as he still cared about Emily. And her daughter Beth was one of the cutest things he'd ever seen.
He grinned at Emily when she opened the door, appreciating again how great she always looked, even when just wearing a pair of jeans and a tshirt. "You look great Em," he said, hugging her back and giving her a soft kiss on the cheek.
