Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:lydia carson, theo ellwood

Who: Theo & Lydia
What: Dinner conversation.
Where: Joanna's Home.
When: October 06, 1867; Early Evening (4:45pm)
Status: Incomplete.

So it had been a day after one week since the last time both Lydia and Theo had seen each other. Sure Theo received the letter only a day after their little run-in, but since he had been so damn nervous to even step foot near Joanna's home. Many times he tried to ready himself, thinking that this was the day he would head over there for a meal and a talk, but every time he stopped and simply turned his heel, heading in the opposite direction. Today was different. He kicked himself in the ass and decided that he wasn't going to be such a whimp. It was only Lydia, so what was the harm in visiting?

After stepping foot from the inn, he tidied up his tie and wiped at his vest, pulling either corner of his coat tighter around his form. Theo wanted to look somewhat decent for this; not only because this wasn't his home, nor had he met the owner, but it was for her. Hopping on his horse, he slowly trotted away from the buildings in the direction of where he had been taken last time. He wasn't in a hurry, but he did think twice about sending the horse into a gallop, afraid that by the time he'd get there, Lydia and her friend would be gone.

Moments passed, and during those moments, he was able to smoke a cigarette to calm his nerves, as well as chew frantically on a mint leaf to clear his breath of tobacco. Theo reached the home, and dismounted, spitting from his mouth the soggy leaf and squeaking his teeth with the rub of a surprisingly clean finger. He then tied the horse up, and stepped forth to the door.

*knock-knock-knock*

He wasn't the only nervous one. Every day Lydia seemed to out-do herself when it come to making dinner just in case he showed up. At least she and Joanna were eating well, though maybe Joanna more then herself. Every night he didn't show up, she was both immensely relieved and yet wondering if he was even going to come at all. It wouldn't stop her from making sure she had enough to eat just in case he decided to come. When he didn't, it made her relax, knowing she could put off everything for another day.

That night she was cooking porkchops, and there was some kind of vegetable, but currently she was getting ready to put the biscuits into the wood stove to bake. Her apron was half covered in flour, as were her hands and a smear on her cheek. Hearing the door she blinked a little and realized it must be him. Calling to Joanna that she would get the door, she went to the door and opened it.

Sure enough, Theo was standing there in front of her. She smiled a bit, "Hi.." she greeted, "Um.. come on in.." she stepped back away from the door, wiping her hands on her apron though that didn't really work considering it was all floury too.

Just as the door opened, his brows lifted in tune, followed by a small smile. His hands had been shoved into his pockets, a normal thing for him to do although most of the time unconsciously. Either he ignored the fact she was covered in flour, or at first he hadn't really bothered to notice. It didn't matter, she was here, and that was all he cared about.

Upon clearance to enter, he pulled his hands from his pockets and straightened his tie, stepping inside with one small leap then turning to face her, "You got some--" he cut himself short and reached up, gently trying to wipe away the bit of flour on her cheek. "Is your.. I mean, the woman, your--" Theo seemed to be having an extremely hard time with speech, however it wasn't unusual; at least for friends to think so. "Beautiful home," he said, trying to cover up his tumbled words, "I'm, I'm sorry it took me so damn long to finally come. I just.. I was.. I had things, y'know."

Had Theo been holding something, it would have been crushed by now with nerves.

She seemed a bit amused that he was wearing a tie, especially when he went to straighten it. "Hm?" her eyebrows lifted up, a bit confused until he wiped the flour off her face. "Oh.. thank you.." she smiled in thanks. "You didn't have to wear a tie for me you know.." though she thought he looked quite handsome in one, she knew that it was probably strangling him. Hence the amusement.

"Oh yes, Joanna's here but she's said that she'll give us some.. privacy." Joanna knew how nervous that Lydia was about all of this, but wanted to be there for her anyway. And she didn't seem to mind his erratic speech patterns, she was quite used to them even if she hadn't been around him that long. "It's quite nice, yes.. Joanna was very lucky to have found it. I had begun to think we were going to have to build our own for a while.." she confessed.

Her hand waved a bit, "Don't worry about it, I'm just glad you came. I was just about to stick the biscuits in the oven and then dinner will be ready. Do you want something to drink?"

"Privacy," he repeated rather quietly, nodding his head some and bringing his hands to the small of his back to fiddle his thumbs a bit. For a moment he let his eyes wander more, taking in his surroundings should he ever need to find his way around. Thank god for his photographic memory. Without it, he wouldn't have been able to... Well, lets just say he might be 6 feet under.

After, he looked back at her and tilted his head slightly, a small grin growing on his face into a full-fledged smile, realizing that she mentioned his tie, even though it was about one of the first things she had said, "My tie. I mean, I did have to, Lydia. Put into consideration its our first dinner in--" he paused, lowering his gaze and letting his hands fall to his sides before looking straight back up, "In years."

Theo shifted his weight from one foot to the next, his smile still apparent and stretching either cheek. "Um, I could use some brandy, that is, if you do have any."

Lydia wished that they didn't have to have privacy, that she didn't have to explain all of this to him while he was there. It would be nice if the dinner had no ulterior motive, except it did and he probably knew vaguely. After all she told him she needed to tell him something. She still didn't know if it was best to tell him before or after.

Probably after just so he'd stay through the whole thing, or not have the dinner be total awkward silence. When he smiled, she felt better about things. And he said 'our dinner' which made her feel better too. So much so that she returned the smile, "You're right, I don't think I've seen that thing since.. maybe the first time you met my father.." which was ages ago.

While she talked, she put the biscuits into the brick stove to bake, and then went to pour him a glass of brandy, and herself one too. Lord knew she was going to need it. After handing him his glass, she undid her apron and took it off. "You've been okay then?" even though it hadn't been long since she'd seen him.

Following her through the home and into the kitchen area, he managed to slip out another comment about his tie. "And quite honestly, I haven't worn it since then," he said, nibbling his lower lip in thought. He didn't own a whole lot of things, or clothes, for that matter. It was the fact that he was once always on the fly, running from officials and whatnot. Even after Lydia's "known disappearance" Theo had left behind quite a lot. Two packs were slung over his horse's rump, and that was that. And he kept the tie.

He twisted his shoulders some, crooning his neck to take a peek outside for no particular reason, until he was handed the glass of brandy, "Thanks, doll." Immediately he paused, the glass near his pursed lips, his eyes a bit wide as he gazed over at her. If she were to mention the slip, he would swear that it was an accident, that he didn't mean to say it. Instead of covering it up with more speech, he took a drink with a bit of a sputter, coughing back the contents.

"Anyways yeah, I've been... Well, I mean I guess I've been fine. Same ol' crap jus' a different damn day. And yourself? Been pissed off at my lack of appearance?" Yeah, he still felt bad for taking so long to show for dinner.

She wondered briefly then why he'd worn it. Was he trying to get into her good graces like he'd tried to with her father? Maybe, but it wasn't like he wasn't already in them. Even though things were still a bit rocky, she felt that if this whole night went didn't end in disaster, maybe things would be all right. Until then she didn't know if she liked the word maybe, though now it seemed to be all right.

When he called her doll, or more precisely called her doll and then looked like he'd been caught with his hand in the cookie jar, Lydia couldn't help but laugh a little, "Sorry.. sorry.. it's all right.." she just seemed amused at the whole thing. She took a sip of her own brandy, hoping it would calm her some by the time it came time to talk. "Mmm.. well, a bit annoyed when I go to make all this food every night and then we have to end up eating it ourselves, but I think we've managed.." she was half teasing.

She didn't blame him for not coming right away. If it were her, she probably would have still been off hiding somewhere.

Secretly Theo prayed to the heavens that she didn't flip out. Then again, why would she, if she did? And to make it even that much better, she laughed. This drew yet another smile on his face, piling onto the previous one from earlier. He lowered his glass, shoving his other hand into his pocket as usual, and rested his occupied hand against his chest. His tongue glided slowly over his lips, nodding in union to her words about his absence. She was poking fun, yes, but he still couldn't help but feel a bit guilty about it all.

"Annoyed, I figured as much. To be honest I thought I was knocking on the door of an empty house when I arrived," he arched his brows and took another gulp from the brandy, leaving only a couple of sips left, "Well, because, you know." Drawing a closure to that thought and not wanting to spark up any bitter memories, he thought about what she had said--the reason as to why they were having this dinner in the first place. The note did show that she had something to tell him; what he didn't have the damnedest of clues. Whatever it was, he hoped he was ready for it--good or bad.

It didn't take a genius to figure out what he was talking about. "Oh.. I.." she didn't know what to say for a moment, so she went over to check on the biscuits and pull them out of the oven. At least that would keep her distracted. "I don't blame you.. I would've thought it was all empty too." And they both had thought about it, Joanna and she. She even thought about leaving on her own, but then she knew she had to get this confession out of the way before running away again.

Taking a deep breath, she put the tray of biscuits on the table and then took them off the tray, putting one at each plate. "I think we can eat now.. let me just go give this to Joanna. I think she might be asleep though, she wasn't feeling well this morning.." which might have been an excuse to give them privacy, but she still worried. She took one plate and brought it into the other room before coming back. "All right, um.. yeah.. dinner.."

Dripping the rest of the contents of brandy into his mouth, he returned his gaze in her general direction only to see that she had already marched off to give Joanna a plate of food. During this time, he slid the empty glass near his own plate on the table and zipped over to the other, waiting patiently for her return so that he could properly seat her like any gentleman should.

He smiled yet again, a common appearance he picked up just tonight, and motioned to the seat in front of him, his hands rested on the back. He said nothing, only waited, and it wasn't until she sat down that he moved over to his side of the table, seating himself rather quickly. Theo wanted to be frank and simply ask her what she wanted to tell him. He was impatient, really, about the whole thing, but decided that it was best to keep his mouth shut and let her do the talking when she was ready.

Now even for a short minute, he waited, glancing up at her to make sure that she wasn't about to say "Grace," like the hardcore religious people do. He remembered doing this as a child, but since his parents had passed, he didn't feel the need to thank God for the food placed just before him. "So..."

For a minute she didn't know why he was just standing there, maybe she hadn't had dinner with a guy in a long time. Then she realized that she needed to sit, so she did so, plopping down in her chair rather roughly. After a minute she realized they needed another drink, so she got up and brought over the whole snifter of brandy and then poured them both a drink. She stared at the plate of food, but like usual she didn't really feel like eating it. Though she figured she would have to, to save face.

Figuring they had never said grace before in their whole time together, she didn't see the point of doing it now. It wasn't like she had all of a sudden become religious in the year since she'd seen him. Maybe she should have, though she just doubted it would make her feel any better.

Her eyes flicked up to him, and then back to her plate and then back to him. Well she supposed she could tell him now, what was the point in waiting. "I um.. it's about why... I left. And things you should know..." she didn't know how much she could look at him while she talked. "It's not.. that I lied.. necessarily about why I left, I just.. talking about it there wasn't the place or the time and I didn't know how to tell you. I still don't know how to tell you.." she was rambling a bit, but she was more nervous then usual. After all, he might hate her after this.

At first he had begun to pick at his food, shoving forkfuls into his mouth due to his heavy amount of hunger. Then he gazed up, noticing that Lydia hadn't really touched hers, or at least, not as much as he had been. Almost immediately he stopped, plopping his hands down on the table at either side of his plate, his knife and fork still clenched in either hand.

He chewed the last bit of food sitting in his mouth and let the remains disappear before tilting his head a bit, his left brow scrunching while the other lifted. "How to tell me what?" Theo wasn't sure at this point (still) whether or not he should prepare himself. He didn't know if it was going to fall on the good or bad side of the scale. Either way, she had to say it, otherwise it not only would continue to haunt her, but bother him in a way that he wouldn't be able to sleep--again. "Lydia," he started, but never said another word. Instead he set down his silverware and took a large sip from his glass, setting that down as were thereafter before providing his full attention to her.

For a moment she looked up at him, just taking in the moment before all of this started and she couldn't take it back. Maybe for the last time things would be calm between them. Then the moment was gone and she looked down at her food again. Better just to say it before Joanna came out here and started to run her mouth and tell him on her own. Well maybe she wouldn't, but lord knew the woman was probably fed up with her not saying a word.

Reaching up, she pushed her hair behind her ears and let out a breath. "I.. A.. couple of days before I left, I found out.. I mean I realized I was.. pregnant." The word seem to just fall like a lead stone from her lips. She was sure that he wouldn't know what to say, and it was better to get it out of the way before he started to ask questions about some child.

"I was scared, yes. For myself, and for the baby, and I ran. I wanted to tell you, I just wasn't sure how you'd take it or if I even wanted to deal with it myself. I'm sorry, Theo."

All of it was said without looking up at him, she couldn't. A moment later she'd guzzled down every drop of brandy in her glass before pouring herself another one and downing half of that one too. She was going to keep needing them for this and for the other part of this damned story.

Still he sat there, the food he had just eaten seeming to want to come up. The air around him suddenly thickened, frozen in time just as he had wished everything else would have become. But it was impossible to pray on this wish, he had to face the facts placed before him like regrettable stones falling from her lips. At the exact moment the word escaped, internally he pulled back his temper, turning away from her and looking at some random object placed somewhere nearest him.

"Pregnant," he said, more of a statement rather than a question, but the tone still present, "And... Where is this child?" The question choked out after she had finished her own words and paused. She hadn't given any kind of hint about the child's whereabouts, if the child was even among the living.

Some part of her wanted to look up to see the look on his face, to judge maybe if there was a hint of how much he didn't want to look at her. But she couldn't bring herself to in the end, maybe it was better that way. Her napkin was all twisted around in her fingers, pulled tight and it was a wonder she wasn't tearing it to shreds with the way she was acting. Mostly Lydia was just trying to get herself not to cry.

At his question, which she knew was inevitable she ventured a tiny look up at him. "I didn't.. I mean I, it isn't.. I miscarried.. a couple of months later.. it was my fault, I wasn't .. taking very good care of myself." she still wasn't, but that was besides the point. "I stopped eating, I forgot or I didn't want to. All I felt was guilt and I should've.. I killed it.." by then there probably tears running down her face but she didn't pay them any mind.

Instead she knew she needed air, because she felt like she was going to pass out. And so with a half mumbled 'sorry' she bolted up from her seat and flung open the door and out onto the porch, gasping for air.

Knuckles white, he finally released his fists in which he didn't realize he had created. By that time, Lydia had already disappeared from the table and shoved her way outside, the door still wide open from what he could tell. Theo leaned way back in his seat, resting his hands on his thighs as he pushed away from the table some to stand. Of course he had still been holding back his temper, desperately wanting to destroy something in the wake of his outrage. He wasn't here to point fingers: she wanted him here to tell him this, but why now? Why did she run? Perhaps she was scared, but what made her decided to not take care of herself during the time after?

Minutes ticked by, and even he fought back a small pool of tears before finally shuffling out to the porch to join her, even if he stood some 5 yards away. "Why? I mean, what do you mean you forgot to eat, Lydia? What did you expect my reaction to be if you stayed and told me?" His teeth pressed down onto his lower lip, placing his hands on his hips. His questions were jumbled together, in no particular order. He couldn't help it. "A child Lydia! And you couldn't even take care of yourself to... To..."

Out in the open air, she inhaled and exhaled but it was a struggle not to hyperventilate. Her nerves were shot, she probably shouldn't have drank anything but she thought it would settle her nerves, not give her the shakes. By the time he had got outside she had caught breath but she was still a wreck. He spoke and she couldn't do anything but listen. She didn't know what to say to him. How on earth could she justify any of it? She couldn't. That's all there was to it. But she still owed him an explanation.

"I know.." she said feebly after a moment. "God don't you think I know? I p-p-panicked. Full out terror. Women are supposed to be good at being mothers. I was good at delivering them, not havin' them myself. You and me and a baby? We're not even married." she steadied herself on the porch but it didn't seem to help. "I don't know what your reaction would have been. You could have been happy or you could have been angry and hit me for all I knew. I never knew. So I left. And I worried more because I was by myself with just my father."

At the end she finally went quiet for a moment. "I didn't want it to happen. I wanted our child.."

With his head cocked slightly, his eyes fixed upon her form, and his hands still tightly placed on his waist, he fought back the urge to mention that just before she left he was going to ask for her hand in marriage. This put a frown on his face, calming his nerves slightly into something depressing. "Not married," he breathed, then continued on with something else in a louder tone, "Hit you? You think that I would hit you?" This hurt, hurt to know that she really thought he would lay his hands on her in such a way to harm her. "I would never have hit you, Lydia. Never."

Theo stopped everything, his thoughts, his blood flow (to a normal level), even his movements. Now he focused on her completely, looking at her. Perhaps now that she was starting to lay things down on the table, so-to-speak, he should as well.

"We would have been married, if you would have said yes. I... Look I shouldn't be getting this worked up over something that happened so long ago. I just... I wish you would have told me instead of running away. I thought this entire time that it was me. That it was because of me being the reason that you ran. I've beat myself up over it everyday. Don't..." He shuffled over to her, running a couple of fingers just underneath her right eye, "Don't cry."

Lydia put her hands up, "I don't know! I never EVER thought you would until then but it was just a lot for me to handle and I didn't handle it well. At all and it just made things worse. Leaving made things so much worse.." for a moment she felt like there would be sobs. She hadn't cried like that since she'd actually lost the baby and got ran out of town all in the same time period.

Letting out a shaky breath, she shook her head. "You should.. it's my fault. It's not like it was just nature, or an accident. I didn't do it on purpose but that doesn't mean it wasn't my fault. I'm sorry I let you think it was your fault. If I could change things, I would..." it seemed like she had calmed down maybe just a little but it was hard to tell what was going to set her off again.

Maybe she hadn't been paying that much attention because suddenly he was right near her, reaching up to touch her. At least she didn't shy away from him or try to get away. "I'm not well.. I haven't been since. After I lost the baby there was this woman and she asked me to help deliver her baby. I shouldn't have done it, I wasn't thinking clearly and then.. I messed up.. she died. The baby died. They chased me and daddy out, said I did it on purpose.." her head shook a little and she started to cry again a little. "I can't make up for any of it."

He let her go. Let her say what she needed to say because it was obvious that she had been bottling it up. Interrupting her would do no good, even if he wanted to. She had done enough damage to her mind and body, so it was easy for him to just give up the argument. So, again he wiped away the small bit of tears that managed to fall from her eyes before leaning back against the porch railing, not wanting to pressure himself onto her.

"Stop blaming yourself, please. You don't need that. Everything you said is in the past. You..." Well, he wasn't sure what to say, really. He folded his arms over his chest, taking a deep breath, "You're slowly destroying yourself, Lydia, y'know that? So you can't make up for your mistakes, I sure as hell can't make up for mine, but I've at least tried to put it all behind me. Aside from this, this is hard." He pointing to either of them, then shook his head.

"You're a... A beautiful person, Lydia. Had those assholes known that about you they wouldn't have ran you and your father out of town. And had I been there I sure as hell wouldn't have let them."

It was easier said then done to stop blaming herself when she'd been doing it for so long. Sure it was in the past, but she wasn't sure that some things were meant to be forgotten. "I just.." she began but fell shorts. She rubbed her face with her hands and sighed. "I couldn't do that when I knew that you didn't know, that I should tell you. I didn't know how to bring myself to find you. All that knowing eventually one day I'd have to bring it all up again." Though at lots of time she didn't know if she was ever going to get the chance she was getting now.

Mostly because she was sure that he was going to be angry at her for not telling him, and not having the baby to the point where he wouldn't want to see her again. She hadn't thought she could take it, and though he didn't seem to be as mad now, she realized that maybe she could deal with it if it came to that. She was just glad that it was said and she didn't have to keep it all bottled up inside anymore.

She shook her head, "I don't blame them. I messed up. Saying you're sorry doesn't bring back the dead. I stopped being a midwife all together after that. Dad tried to reason with them, but it was just easier to go then to be stared at and talked about." Of course she knew that he would have defended her, had he been there. The only person who had been was Joanna and her family.

"I really am sorry for... everything. I just don't want you to hate me. Please.. don't hate me."

"I.. Guess you're right. You have your point." He was talking about her first response. "Look, now, you found me and even though I'm acting like I'm not that upset and I am, it... You've... Shit I don't even know what I'm talking about." Theo pushed from the railing and began to shuffle away slowly, rethinking what he was really meaning to say.

"I'm not a religious man, but you can't say that us running into each other is God trying to tell us something. That... That it's obvious we need one another. Maybe?" When he started to say it, it sounded great. Then towards the end, it was more questionable. "I never hated you, Lydia. I don't hate you."

"I'm just a little disappointed."

He had every right to be disappointed, she knew but in some ways him being disappointed hurt more then him possibly hating her. He didn't hate her, that she was extremely grateful for but it hurt. "I know.." she said finally, quietly. "You should be. You can't possibly be more disappointed in me then I am in myself.." because she really had been destroying herself over this whole thing. She needed to stop.

Lydia just wanted things to be okay, "I need you. I know I do, I've known it.. my whole life. I tried not to, and when I didn't, it turned out horrible." Though she didn't know if they could ever get back to the way things were, or even if something new could start. "Whatever it is, God or fate or.. whatever. I do need you."

But was that enough?

Again, just as the numerous times before, he dipped his hands into his pockets, only removing a cigarette this time and promptly lighting it. "Sorry I know you hate this crap," he mumbled, taking a drag before speaking up again. "I've turned down numerous proposals from women since you've left me. Why?" Another drag. "Because I was afraid that if I gave in, you'd somehow locate where I was and I wouldn't be able to be with you. It's sappy an' all that, I know. But it's the truth. I would have kept myself free until I died still secretly hoping that we'd bump heads."

He laughed some, shaking his head slightly in junction while tapping the ashes from his smoke. "That whole thing was just an accident turned into something worse, right? You do need me, doll. So," he took in the last of the tobacco and flicked the remains into the dirt just off of the porch, "I forgive you."

For once she could ignore his bad habits and not say anything. Though when he brought up other women, she couldn't help but narrow her eyes slightly and thought she didn't actually frown it was obvious that she wasn't pleased. She didn't want to know about other women, not in the slightest. Though she was glad that he hadn't actually settled down with anyone else. More then glad actually. "Well I'm ... very glad you didn't give in.." she finally voiced, managing to smile just slightly.

Her head nodded a little, "Thank you.. that means more to me then anything." And now she felt like she could let it go and move on with her life. Whatever that was. "Nothing like that will ever happen again.." because she had realized that she did want a family with him, at least one day. "I don't really know what we do now though.."

He instantly noticed her jealousy, pushing it aside with care. The secrets came and were gone, as though they had never existed. Which was a great thing, since either of them didn't really need it. However, a very small bit of it did cling to the back of his mind, enough to give him a frown before a smile.

"Now?" He asked, moving himself over towards her and holding out his hand, "I'm Theo, and you are?" It was the only way he could think of to start anew--and he waited.

Starting over. That much she could definitely do. She was good at starting over. Giving a small smile, she put her hand into his, "I'm Lydia, it's nice to meet you Theo. Do you live around here?" which was a silly question of course but well that's what people asked when they first met each other right? That's what she asked the last person she met in this town anyway.

If Joanna could hear them she might think they were both off their rocker, but she was young and Lydia would explain things to her. Maybe. After everything had settled down. She half wondered if the girl wasn't watching them from the window.

Had anyone been watching or listening in, he didn't care. Not at this particular moment, anyways. He didn't really like rubberneckers. Then her hand slipped into his, like velvet running over bare skin. He always loved the feel of her skin.

He gripped her fingers lightly, bringing the back of her hand to his lips, grazing them for a moment before pursing them to kiss. "Lydia, wonderful name. I do live around here, actually," he said, drawing himself nearer, still holding her hand to his mouth, "Not far from here." He smiled, placing her hand back at her side before dipping his head forward to kiss the corner of her mouth.

She just continued to smile at him as he kissed the back of her hand. "Aren't you the gentleman? You do? Well that's good and awfully.. convenient," the smile on her lips turning up into the barest hint of a smirk as he drew himself closer to her. Being so near, she couldn't help but reach up and touch his cheek.

"Has anyone ever told you," she asked, letting her fingers just barely reach back to run through the very ends of his hair. "That kissing a girl like that is only going to get you called one thing seeing as how you barely know me.. and that, is a tease.." probably not the word he thought she might call him but it seemed to amuse her. Besides, she probably often called him a tease before when they were just getting to know each other.

The distance between them had become managed by a single, short thread. Years ago it broke and within this small amount of time they had been standing on the front porch, it mended by the words of either of them. One could only hope that either of them hadn't been keeping any more secrets from one another, otherwise this thread would break--again.

Rough, yet tender hands reached out and gripped her arms softly, his smile stretching to show surprisingly pearly-white teeth--something that was near impossible to accomplish these days. "I've been told this, yes," he replied, placing another light kiss on the corner of her lips, "But only one time I recall, it wasn't a mistake." Sure, he had been 'around the world' and by god did he regret it. Of course, this was when he had let himself go downhill after she left. Drinking, drugs, escorts, fighting... All of it ceased some time ago when he realized he was destroying his life.

Theo had started to place more kisses around her face. Her cheeks, nose, forehead, chin, all leading to another back to her lips, deepening the kiss; something he had been wanting to relive since he saw her some odd days ago.

There were certainly no plans for her to have any more secrets. Not only could she not think of any, but she knew better then to keep anything from him ever again. It was the running away thing she was going to have to actually work on. At the moment the only thing that she could possibly run away from was Joanna's parents, but that was more of her employer's worry, not hers. Right now, all she needed was right there in front of her.

She couldn't help but smile back at him when he touched her, and kissed her. It felt more natural to be around him then she'd felt in a long while. "Only once hm? I guess you're just going to have to prove it before this becomes your second." Really she liked teasing him just as much as he seemed to like teasing her. As he kissed her face, her eyes shut, enjoying the feel of his lips against her skin.

They only opened when he finally kissed her on the mouth, which made both hands reach up to his neck before she kissed him in return. She might have mumbled something like 'much better' except it was quite muffled since she was kissing him. It was something she had wanted to do for quite a while too it seemed.

He couldn't help but chuckle slightly after she returned the kiss. It was pretty much an unreal feeling at this point. A feeling he thought to have never been able to feel again. Of course, his thoughts had deceived him, and he was happy for that.

"Shall we?" He asked, slowly pulling from her and holding out his arm to lead her back inside. "Our now cold dinner awaits us."

(( Closing the game?! Well, I have a proposal: I am opening up a new game set in the 1800s in London on a theater show--magic and all that. If you're interested. Keep Naomi. I kept RDJ. ;) Because I do like RP'ing with you. ))

Oh right. Dinner. That had pretty much been completely forgotten. "Let's hope it's still edible. Or that Joanna hasn't eaten it all." Well at least she hoped she was teasing. All in all, Lydia felt much better then she had in a very long time. She might actually eat for once.

Putting her arm through his, she smiled and headed with him back inside so they could finish their meal. What was left, anyway.

((Oh yipes, that sucks. But I am totally interested in the game. That sounds like fun. I'm definitely in, thanks for inviting me :D))
