WHO : Molly Sue Ashwood and Jennifer Teresa Donovan.
WHAT : Molly walks home from work.
WHERE : Streets outside MacNamara Press and Co and homebound.
WHEN : May 22nd; Afternoon.
STATUS : Thread/Incomplete
RATING : TBA.

It has often been said that wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure. What a fraud that is. Life ain't got nothing to do with wit. Life is just give and take. Take, take, take and only give what you can spare. Life is surviving. Ain't no time for wit.

Molly Sue hiked up her collar and pressed onward. It was a terribly hot, stifling day, but Molly didn't care. Some of the skin on her neck was showing. God forbid. It was stupid to be so worried about people seeing a slab of skin about the size of a peanut, but Molly was just that insecure. What if that slab of skin just so happened to look... well... off? What would people say? What would they do?

They'd laugh.

"Look at Molly Sue and her ugly slab of skin!" Ugh. For a woman who preaches about the frauds of life, I've certainly got myself the biggest fraud ever.

The trudge up to the stable house wasn't a long one, but Molly liked to take it slow. Sure it was hot, but it was better to take her time. She didn't want to faint in the middle of the street..... again. Her fingers unconsciously tugged on her gloves, keeping them tightly fitted over her hands. Hot day indeed, but this wasn't Molly's insecurities at work. Oh no. Molly's greatest instruments had to be protected. Her hands.

Writing was her thing, the thing that no one could take away from her. And if they did, well there'd be hell to pay! She didn't know what she'd do if she couldn't write. Hell, she'd probably snap. Maybe that was exactly what she needed.

She kept her head down as she walked, slowly but surely making progress. Progress. Wit. Life. Such simple things. And there was that smirk again, the smirk that meant Cynthia was already developing an idea for another story.

Excellent.

Jen was out wandering the town. It was between meals, and even though the weather was on the warmer side, it wasn't to the extreme in the young woman's opinion. And wandering had been a better option to fiddling around in the house doing pretty much nothing. Nothing was in need of mending, and it was a couple hours until she needed to get started on the evening meal. And with her brother and Floyd both busy elsewhere, well, exploring the town just seemed to be the thing to do.

Not meaning to, Jen let herself, well her gaze at least, get caught up on two riders on horseback as the moved at a slow cant past her. One catching her full attention with a smile and tip of the rim of his hat, it had Jenny forgetting to pay attention to where she was walking to give a sweet, little ole smile in return. And that distraction almost had the young woman very nearly colliding with another when her senses organized again.

"I'm sorry." She offered apologetically finding herself barely a foot from the other woman and barely preventing the near collision that almost happened. "I really should pay more attention to where my feet are taking me." Jen giving a little soft smile.

"Oh!" Molly Sue stopped awkwardly, in a way that caused her feet to sort of do a quick, little, two-step shuffle to the side in order to avoid the collision. That wasn't normal for her, and it caused her knees to ache a tiny bit. She would have rubbed them had she not had to bend down, and that just wasn't gonna happen. What if someone could see up her skirt? She too hadn't been paying very much attention as was obvious by her dreamy look, which was the cause for the terrible blush that was now blanketing her face.

"So sorry," she replied, tugging at her gloves to make them tighter around her wrist as a sort of nervous reaction to the near collision. "You all right?" Her voice had softened considerably to the point where it was probably a dull whisper, and with all the noise about the area, it was most likely impossible for anyone to have heard that. However, her flushed face and downward gazing eyes told a thousand words. It was evident that she felt bad about all this and that she was worried about the other woman. After all, Molly had been the one to be thinking about things like progress and life and wit. Horse dung! her mother would have said.

"Quite fine." Jenny smiled back as hands ran over the length of her dress as if smoothing the material out. "Nothing seems to have gotten broken." She continued jokingly, and with a smile. And really the other woman wasn't really fully at fault here, could be that Jen was more responsible for the near human to human collision. She after all let herself get distracted by the ruggedly handsome cowboy that walked his horse past her on the street and tipped his hat to her.

"Oh. Oh, good then." She blushed a bit and tucked some hair behind her ear. She had probably seen the girl before, though she didn't know where. She'd often seen people and didn't know their names. She'd often written about people but didn't know any more about them past the gossip that surrounded them. This girl didn't seem to have very much gossip surrounding her, which was why Molly wasn't all that familiar with her.

"Ah'm sorry. Musta forgotten yer name. I'm Molly Sue." Of course, all this was said in a tiny voice with her head down, where she'd only occasionally glance up at the other woman, smile shyly and look back down at her gloves.
