Paper House — a Forbidden Game rpg

PAPER HOUSE
You're at a birthday party for your friend. She brought a game, but she can't remember where it came from. You and the others set the board and roll the die. Then everything changes and you're playing the game for real. You can't leave until you face your deepest, darkest fear. Something you haven't told anyone. Something that makes your blood run cold and your muscles tense. This a game for the Shadow Men, but not for you. The only way to win is to overcome your nightmare and make it to the top of the dollhouse. You're not alone but that's not a guarantee for survival. The clock is ticking. You only have until sunrise to finish.
Paper House is a limited-run original character role playing game based on The Forbidden Game trilogy by L. J. Smith. The game will run over the course of 24 weeks. It is a writing-heavy survival game. The game will commence once we have a minimum of 6 characters. Applications will close 4 weeks after.

WELCOME TO KINGWOOD, CALIFORNIA.

The sleepy, rural town of Kingwood, California may seem like any other small town, but things are not what they appear. For in this little town in Northern California, the people that live their day to day lives, year after year, are not what they seem.

Imbued with the memories of our most beloved characters out of storybooks, the citizens of Kingwood are living, breathing reincarnations of these legends. No one knows why they exist.

In fact, aside from dreams and memories that sometimes spark up, no one is even aware that anything is different about them or their town. However, they are different and it is the town's magic that sparks the character deep within. And with more and more people moving to Kingwood, the lines between real and make believe continue to become more and more...

FLYLEAVES: A Literature Roleplay

GAME INFO RULES APP CAST WANTED HELD OOC

BELLA SWAN IS DEAD. The literary worlds are in an uproar. Inter-canonical pathways, dubbed "rabbit holes" by those in the know, are cropping up everywhere, letting outside characters in as often as native characters are being let out. The stories we were raised on are being altered: rogues wreak havoc, their intentions noble as often as they are ignoble, as civilians find their lives and plot lines turned upside down. In the midst of the madness, Canon Corps — an organization based out of Dictionopolis tasked with keeping order — are scrambling to put things to rights, but their numbers are being spread thin as more and more books fall prey to the mysterious pandemic. Who is responsible? More importantly, is the situation solvable? Just who the hell is John Galt, anyway? Time is running out before literature's very foundations are torn asunder, and no one is able to gauge whether the damage done might not already be irreparable... but we may as well enjoy the mayhem while it lasts, shall we?

[info]flyleaves is an RPG based very loosely on ideas found in Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next series. Familiarity with the series is not required, although you must have a thorough knowledge of your chosen book and character. This RPG accepts literature-based characters only.

CURRENLTY SEEKING: Alice Liddell, Atticus Finch, AUSTEN CANON, BRONTÉ CANON, The Dark Is Rising Cast, Estella Havisham, GAIMAN CANON, Guy Montag, The Hunger Games Cast, Inkworld Cast, John Galt, The Mad Hatter, Nick Carraway, The Pevensies, Silas, a Martin Freeman PB to run around with Sherlock Schmendrick (Arthur Dent perhaps?).

The last memory YOU have is... well, it depends. Perhaps YOU died: suicide, execution, murther most foul. Or maybe YOU merely took your exit (pursued by a bear). YOU have found yourself in a strange theater, awakening on stage and without any memory of how you came to be there. It is a foreign place but populated by others. They are a diverse lot, calling from all corners of the world but somehow related. YOU and these strange others are all the progeny of the mysterious PLAYWRIGHT, at whose whim you are now at the mercy of.

The Globe is a very specific multifandom RPG, involving characters from William Shakespeare's plays.

Pax Letale: a modern myth game

old gods made new
PAX LETALE:
GODS REAWAKENED

Something is stirring in Newport Beach, California.

One of the most affluent and exclusive areas in Orange County, Newport Beach is a safe, comfortable space where the real world has a tendency not to to intrude on the pleasures of its citizens. It's a nice, normal, friendly, monochromatic city in a county that's known for the same. In fact, many people say that the majority of Orange County seems like a construct designed to keep the troubles of real life out, creating a plasticine paradise that nothing dark or dirty can penetrate.

The residents of Pax Letale are slowing coming to know better.

Pax Letale is an exclusive luxury apartment building right on the beach, with easy access to the 405 and all the charm that Newport Beach has to offer. Its residents comprise a surprisingly eclectic demographic for Orange County and Newport in particular, with people from all walks of life being drawn to this building for reasons they can't quite identify.

The common thread that binds them, of course, is that they are each of them inhabited by a sleeping god.

As they spend more time at Pax, their gods are awakening, though -- and strange things are happening. Natural (and supernatural) mishaps and disasters, disappearing tenants, and quite recently, the concierge was brutally murdered.

There are whispers among some that the strange island in the bay, visible from the building, has something to do with all of this. Still others are compelled by the island; if it didn't sound crazy, they'd say it was calling to them.

They aren't crazy.

Holds and applications are being accepted for all available pantheons.

Pax Letale: a modern myth game

PAX LETALE: GODS REBORN

In Southern California, there recently opened a new luxury apartment building. Impeccably designed, impossibly convenient, ideally located, Pax Letale is the sort of residential Shangri La where Southern Californians spend all manner of favors and years trying to secure a spot. But Pax doesn't have a waiting list, nor can a place there be bought or sold. The people who find their way to Pax Letale belong there.

Every tenant of Pax is a reincarnated deity, some of whose worshipers are by and large long dead. Once very real, these gods began to fade as science and reason dispelled the probability of their existence. Reborn as mortals, their essences remain, waiting to be awakened. Somehow, sometimes one by one, sometimes in groups or pairs, these creatures of destiny have discovered Pax, and have not been able to resist its pull.

For at Pax Letale, the awakening has begun. As these gods rediscover themselves and each other, the seemingly invisible but ubiquitous management tracks each of them quite closely, and the very building itself seems to have an agenda of its own. And as the gods made humans in their own image - or humans made them in theirs - so will the the behavior of the people of Pax turn as dark as their myths. Blood, strife, sex, petty plots, torture - even murder will wind their ways into Pax Letale.

A lovely place. A peculiar place. A dangerous place.

Available Tenants:

Enki is the Babylonian god of water, crafts, intelligence and creation. Twin of and best friend of Ereshkigal, goddess of the Underworld, he is often seen as a positive foil to his brother Enlil, utilizing his magic and cunning for the good of others; he brings aid to deities and humans alike, serving as a rare masculine nuturer in a chaotic and often oppressively patriarchal pantheon. He will likely have connections to Tiamat, Ereshkigal, and other Sumero-Babylonian deities.

Zeus is the king of the Greek gods, and the god of sky and weather, law, order and fate. He was depicted as a regal man, mature with sturdy figure and dark beard. His mortal self might be connected in some way to Hera, his sister-queen, as well as to his other siblings and his children - who are many (Ares, Apollo, Artemis, Athene, Hermes, and Dionysos, to name just a fraction of their number).

Masauwu is a Hopi deity sometimes called the Skeleton Man, Keeper of Fire, Spirit of Death, and the Master of the Fourth (present) World. He is depicted as a dark-skinned man wearing a mask; sometimes the creature beneath this mask is described as handsome, sometimes as a disfigured monster.

ADDITIONAL AVAILABLE TENANTS

Don't see a tenant that interests you? Other deities and pantheons are welcome - pick one of the active pantheons in the game, or talk to a mod if there's one you don't see, and make your modern god as you see him/her/it.

Holds and applications are being accepted for all available pantheons.
