It's just like any other day, except maybe on this particular day you wake up with a bit of a headache. You think maybe it's just a hangover from that party you went to last night, and then you start hearing a voice inside your head. Are you going crazy? No. Are you imagining things? No. Is there actually a fictional person living inside your head?

Reincarnation has been a world-wide phenomenon for centuries. Fictional entities taking up residence in the minds of unsuspecting people; sharing memories, histories, and abilities. It began in secret, but as the number of reincarnates grew in the world it became increasingly hard to remain unnoticed, or to exist together peacefully.

Congratulations, you've just become a reincarnate. Welcome to the war.

It's 2012 and the Reincarnate War has been waged for centuries. Camelot and CORE have been locked in an ongoing battle of ideals, with the neutral agent the Agency trying in vain to keep the peace. Acts of terrorism, fighting in the streets and heavy casualties on both sides have painted the reincarnate community red, until a battle that lasted the night named Camelot the victor. Survivors began to rebuild a community now in shambles, and the magic of reincarnation has shifted with the appearance of fictional territories all over the world.

Even worse, former members of CORE have formed a new terrorist group called the Resistance. Their attacks have been brutal, and among these attacks has come the outing of reincarnates to the public. Some have accepted it with a fascination; others, fearing change and the Resistance, have reacted in outrage towards reincarnates. Mundie governments are no longer cooperating with the Agency for the protection of the community, and a temporary alliance between the Agency and Camelot has been made to weather the storm.

Where will you stand? With the Resistance, aiming for reincarnate superiority? With Camelot, aiming for the destruction of the Resistance? With the Agency, working hard to keep together a crumbling world? Or will you chance it on your own in a world where reality is being literally reshaped below your feet? The choice is yours.

Since the dawn of time, storytellers have enchanted audiences with their words. But there is an even rarer gift. There are those who, by reading out loud, can bring characters to life. Out of books and into our world. Most of these people prefer to keep their skills a secret but some do not even know this gift is theirs, until it is too late.

Empire City is a multi-fandom game on Dreamwidth that is open to canon and AU characters in a plot-driven environment that offers ample freedom for character development and individual plots.

The setting of the game is fluid, offering various different locations every few months, but all with the distinct tie of being in some form of New York City - be it on other planets, in another dimension, or simply in the future or the past. Along with the malleable setting, Empire City offers open sandbox game play as well as game-wide plots of the mystery, horror, adventure, fantasy, and humour/crack variety.

I wish I was somewhere else, anywhere else. . . .

There are a multitude of wishes in countless worlds, all of them shooting stars of soul desires. Whether voiced aloud or echoing silently within, some wishes are found by a powerful magic like a siren call of infinity between the stars.

I wish I was elsewhither this power hears without ears, understands without a heart and it grants the desire, the moment of weakness or introspection or distraction. It chants the magic unheard which takes you from your world:

I wish you elsewhither, I wish you here,
called forth by that which you desire
in this our shared yearning hour.


Thus whisked away to Enchantia -- where the people have been silenced by a curse gone wrong -- the unwitting wisher soon realises they are the wish the world of Enchantia has made.

You have been called forth to break the curse which has turned the natives to stone. This land would be fantasy elsewhither but here be scrolls of magic, trolls on bridges, and enchantments like stitches on the tapestry of your quest. You will meet others, who through their own moments of wishing were found by the magic that hopes for all to work together, until the challenges are overcome and everyone faces the crowning test of this quest.

Everyone faces low points in their life when things are hard. Times when nothing is going right and there's just too much to do. Or times when it just seems like life should have more to it. When you're feeling overwhelmed, or longing for something new, or just unappreciated or misunderstood.

And you make a wish.

And the wish wings out, a tiny weakness in the walls between worlds. Under normal circumstances, it wouldn't mean anything, but there's magic out there now, poking through the cracks and crevices of the multiverse, looking for an opening. It finds you and pulls you into the world of Enchantia, which is slumbering under a curse that only people from other worlds can break.

If you ever want to see your home again, you'll have to go on a quest through this fantasy world. You'll be faced with wonders and perils, and challenge that will test your mettle. But you'll also have the help of others in the same situation. If you work together, you just might overcome the obstacles you face and reach the end of your journey -- and the final test.
