Old School RP

The rules have been changed or rather updated to reflect the posts that have been coming in lately. Please remember to full in the subject line when you submit. We ask now that you place the name of your game as the subject line [you may add something descriptive as well] so we can more easily find past posts.

We also ask that if you tags you posts instead of letting us do it, you please use the tags we have created for the community, not just make your own. It doesn't keep things organized if everyone tries to make their own tags, and there's no sense in you writing them in if they won't be used.

We're changing our "deleting old ads rule" We will no longer be deleting old ads, for a few reason. One, because there is enough variety and time bewteen posts that I've had no trouble with feeling like the comm is being flooded. Two, I'd rather jsut approve posts and move along and mod my own games, than troll here and delete old ads. Three, two separate ads here have been linked as good examples of color and image usage and I will not delete them to leave the links up.

That said though, there is a new version of the rule:

5. Try not to post more than once a week. If your ad is still on the page, please don't post it again. We will no longer be deleting old posts. Do not flood the comm with ads for your game.

The rules have been changed/relaxed a bit to encourage more activity. Spread the word to others please!

Rule 2 was deleted [the rule that says no games that 'just take place somewhere']. It has come to my attention that there do exist games without a 'gimmick' per se that still fit the community's theme. Those games [like hiltonheadic] for example, are welcome here.

There are some great resources out there that need promotion, and sometimes it's hard to find a way to get the word out. Do you have a community that has resources, tutorials, and all sorts of things that help people make their RP experience that much better? Well GUESS WHAT? You can now advertise it here! Just have yourself a nice ad and a subject line, and you're good to go!

The rules [in the userinfo] have been changed accordingly!

So a really great suggestion was to be able to post for specific characters for a game, rather than just a blanket ad for the game itself. While you're free to add wanted characters in your regular posts, I think it would be great to just be able to see right off the bat what characters are wanted at what games. So here's a handy little form for being able to post your character needs.

<b>Name</b>: <b>Game</b>: <b>Premise/brief game synopsis</b>: [include player age restrictions if any] <b>Characters being sought</b>: [list as many as you need, include a few details about backstory if any. If it gets long, feel free to cut it.]

Remember this is for advertising for specific character in a running game that would normally be accepted here at oldschoolrp. If you play a certain character and would like to advertise yourself rather than a game, then a great place to do that would be at playersresource.

I'll be adding new tags to help organize the seeking certain player posts. Remember to adhere to all other rules, ESPECIALLY the subject line. It can say whatever describes your game or post, but do not leave it blank!

Please remember this part of rule #4:

"...please define a descriptive subject. It makes it easier to find your post in the sidebar. Your post will be deleted after one week if you do not add a subject line. You will not be banned and can feel free to post again, with a subject."

I've been accepting posts without subjects, commenting to ask posters to go back and edit their posts with a subject. Only a handful have complied. Starting today, we're no longer accepting posts with subject lines. You won't be banned for forgetting one or anything; you'll just need to resubmit with a subject line. Any current posts with no subjects will be deleted on Nov. 1st.

You can find this in the profile page of this comm as well, but for ease's sake, I thought I'd put it here as well.

1. Allowed: Game ads and resource/tutorials communities. If you not sure, just ask! NOT ALLOWED: Celeb communities, Twilight RPs, games with storyline/lyrics/random/cryptic comms, PSL requests. There are enough places for them elsewhere. End of story.

2. Games that have excess storyline/lyrics/random/secrets/other useless subcomms are not what we're looking for. They tend to distract from actual ROLE-PLAYING. This is for games like the ones that existed before these sub-communities became prevalent. We're looking for games with a main community, an ooc, and maybe an extra subcommunity or two, for logs, character backstory, or something else useful. You must have a threading community/forum and it needs to be easily found. If your game is rejected due to this rule, you can feel free to plead your case here. We may have overlooked something in your post.

3. Don't be rude. This means no commenting posts insulting people or games. Commenters like that will be banned.

4. Please place the name of your game in the subject line. It makes it easier to find your post in the sidebar when we look for past posts. Your post will not be accepted if you do not add this subject line. You will not be banned however, and can feel free to post again, with a subject. On that note, no one liner posts. Tell us something abut your game, not just the community name over and over or something random that has nothing to do with the game. "~gamename lol i had beans for dinner :-[" posts will not be accepted. Please no images bigger than 600px without a cut!

6. Please try to tag your posts. Please use the ones listed, as they're specific to the community. We'll do it for you if necessary, but it'd be easier if you do. You know what your game's about better than we do. Also, it's easier to find older posts if they're tagged properly.

Note: Any server is allowed. Here on IJ, at LJ, Inksome, Scribbld, your own domains, forum sites, anything, so long as the game fits other criteria. Don't be shy about posting because your game's offsite!
